Cristiano Ronaldo Slams Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag, Says They "Betrayed" Him
As the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off in Qatar in seven days, Cristiano Ronaldo has spent some time reflecting on his season with Manchester United and his desire to assist Portugal in winning its first World Cup championship.
In an open interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo stated that he feels "betrayed" by how Manchester United has handled him since he returned this season and that he believes the organization is trying to force him to leave.
For the 2021-22 season, Ronaldo chose to return to Manchester United F.C. To play with Real Madrid, he departed the team in 2009, Bleacher Report noted.
He spent nine years as a player for Real Madrid before switching to Juventus in 2018. In 2021-2022, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner appeared in just one match for Juventus.
He committed to a two-year deal with Manchester United F.C. in August 2021 with a third-year option; but Ronaldo's anticipated homecoming to Old Trafford did not go as planned.
Even though Manchester United F.C. finished sixth in the Premier League and was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the round of 16, they had 24 goals scored for them throughout all competitions last season.
The Red Devils also failed to qualify for the Champions League this year. They are competing in the UEFA Europa League instead. They currently hold the fifth spot in the Premier League with an 8-2-4 record.
Ronaldo reportedly requested a transfer from Manchester United F.C. in July to "continue to play Champions League football" in 2022-2023 due to his desire to participate in the Champions League.
However, Ronaldo added that another factor contributing to his unhappiness is the club's failure to advance and improve since his departure in 2009. The progress, according to Ronaldo, "was zero," and he did not notice any changes in the club when the manager Alex Ferguson left.
Since July, Ronaldo's situation has gotten worse. He has been benched and has only started four Premier League games for the Red Devils this year. He has only scored once in ten Premier League games, and his relationship with manager Erik ten Hag is deteriorating.

Cristiano Ronaldo Says He Has No Respect for Erik ten Hag
Erik ten Hag suspended Ronaldo, 37, because he did not want to play as a sub on October 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Even though ten Hag said last week that Ronaldo was likely to be able to go to Fulham, where the Dutchman's team won 2-1 on Sunday, the striker has been sick and missed United's last two games.
According to ESPN, Cristiano Ronaldo said Erik ten Hag tried to get him to leave Manchester United F.C. in the summer by saying he "doesn't respect" the manager.
Ronaldo said, "I don't have respect for him [ten Hag] because he doesn't show respect for me," in a part of the interview that will be shown in its entirety on "Piers Morgan Uncensored" on Wednesday.
"If you don't have respect for me, I'm never gonna have respect for you," he said.
Erik ten Hag Tells About His Frustration With Cristiano Ronaldo
After Ronaldo did not play in the October win over Tottenham, ten Hag was very vocal about how upset he was with him.
Ronaldo and other players left the stadium before the game was over when they were taken out at halftime during a summer friendly against Rayo Vallecano.
After the game, ten Hag talked to the press about what happened in October. He did this because of Ronaldo's recent actions, Sports Illustrated noted.
"I am the manager. I'm responsible for the top sport culture here, and I have to set standards and values, and I have to control them," he said.
"We are in a team. After Rayo Vallecano, I said it's unacceptable, but he wasn't the only one. That is for everyone; when it's the second time it will have consequence. That is now what we did. We'll miss him tomorrow, it's a miss for the squad, but I think it's important for the attitude, mentality for the group," he added
Ronaldo is one of the best soccer players in the history of the sport. People will remember him more for who he was than for how well he played during his last season with Manchester United F.C.
