American ‘Serial Killer' Who Killed Multiple Prostitutes in Mexico on the Loose in California, Officials Say
Authorities in Mexico are reportedly looking for a possible American serial killer believed to have killed at least three sex workers in Tijuana.
In a press conference, Baja California Attorney General Ricardo Carpio said the suspect is believed to be hiding in San Diego, California, Fox News reported.
Carpio noted that Mexican investigators are already working with their U.S. counterparts to track the American suspect believed to be a serial killer.
"There was work done regarding sharing information between our homicide department and the institution's strategy department. They were able to determine that this suspect attacks vulnerable, lonely victims and lures them with lies," Carpio said.
Carpio added that if someone threatens the lives of anyone, "they will have a serious problem with our justice system." NBC San Diego reported that Mexican investigators believed the suspect was an American citizen, and he found his victims at the bars and strip clubs in the Zona Norte neighborhood of Tijuana.
According to Marca, at least three killings are being investigated. Each of the victims was reportedly found dead in a motel room, and the evidence suggests the American suspect had sex with these women before beating and murdering them.
Arrest Warrant Issued for the American Serial Killer
According to Ricardo Carpio, the possible American serial killer had a sociopathy profile. Carpio said the victims were vulnerable women whom he deceived to places where he took them before assaulting them.
The Mexican official reportedly noted that they had already issued an arrest warrant against the suspect.
"Without a doubt, we will capture him and transport him back here to Tijuana," he added.
Carpio said he will not provide additional details to avoid "putting the subject on notice and frustrating the investigations," Marca reported.
American Killer Hiding in Mexico for 10 Years Deported to U.S.
An American man on the run for 10 years was apprehended in Mexico and extradited to the United States to face trial for a crime he committed in 2012.
Pedro Fabian Rodriguez, a former resident of Anaheim in California, was caught in July after being located in Mexico by authorities after 10 years of searching, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said in a statement.
CBS News reported that Rodriguez was charged for stabbing the mother of his two kids 18 times before fleeing the country. According to the FBI, Rodriguez was charged by the Orange County District Attorney's Office in July 2012 for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and burglary.
The FBI noted that investigators assigned to the case determined that Rodriguez fled the state and asked the assistance of the FBI's Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest him.
After he was nabbed by agents working with Mexican law enforcement officials and the FBI's Legal Attaché in Mexico City, Rodriguez was detained in Mexico City where he faced extradition proceedings.
The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California issued a federal warrant for his arrest on November 11, resulting to his extradition back to Anaheim.
The American fugitive, who was handed over to Anaheim Police Department, reportedly pleaded not guilty on Monday. Rodriguez was scheduled for a pretrial hearing on December 1 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
