A former Alabama teacher and coach, who was arrested for having sex with a student, is now married to his alleged victim.

According to New York Post, 25-year-old Thomas Black Tucker asked the court this week to lift the restriction barring him from seeing the student. Court documents showed that the former teacher at East Limestone High School and the student were married last November 6.

Tucker was arrested on September 17. AL reported that he was charged with being a school staff engaging in a sex act with a student younger than 19.

The former Alabama teacher was released on a $30,000 bond on the condition that he limit contact and communication with the victim. Tucker resigned a month later. It is unclear if the student was still going to the East Limestone when he was arrested.

Another Alabama Teacher Charged

According to the court documents, lawyers for Thomas Black Tucker told the court that the former teacher has followed the bond restrictions, which limit contact and communication with the student. The lawyers wanted any bond restrictions to be lifted as Tucker and the student are legally married.

Tucker's defense attorney Nick Lough said they filed the motion to ensure that the Alabama teacher is not in any violation of his bond conditions.

"He at this point has not had any communication with his wife because of the bond conditions that currently exist and that's why we've made this request to the court because again they are lawfully and legally married," Lough told News 19.

A hearing is scheduled for December 6 in Limestone County District Court regarding the motion. Tucker's arrest was reportedly the second sex charge filed against a district staff this year.

According to The News Courier, Jason Roger Emerson, a 49-year-old instructor at Limestone County Tech School, was indicted for a felony sex offense in August.

He allegedly groped a 17-year-old student. Emerson was fired in July, and he turned himself in last August. The former Alabama teacher was eventually released after settling a $10,000 bond and is awaiting trial.

Similar Case in Oklahoma

A teacher's aide in Oklahoma was also arrested for having sex with a student. Reports said Ashley Waffle, a 22-year-old temporary teacher's aide with Granite Public Schools, started a relationship with the teen just two weeks into the job.

The Oklahoma teacher's aide started her employment at Granite Public Schools on October 10. She then began messaging the 16-year-old on Snapchat on October 25.

School officials alerted police about the rumored relationships between Waffle and the student, which spreaded around the small town of less than 2,000. Court documents showed that Waffle had relations with the teen twice at her apartment sometime before November 9.

KSWO reported that the Oklahoma teacher's aide was fired on November 10, and she is facing two second-degree rape charges with a prison sentence of up to 15 years.

Waffle is being held at the Greer County jail. The district is reportedly cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues.
