World Cup Round-Up: Brazil Advances Without Neymar While Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal Demolishes Luis Suarez's Uruguay
The World Cup continues its group action as Brazil sought to advance without Neymar and Danilo, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal had their highly-anticipated face-off against Luis Suarez and Uruguay in a battle of the soccer superstars.
Elsewhere, Ghana's Black Stars took on Asian powerhouse South Korea in Group H.
South Korea was playing more aggressively in their match against Ghana, with 22 shots against Ghana's seven. They also had more shots on goal, with seven against Ghana's three. However, it is more about the quality of those shots rather than quantity for Ghana, as they scored all three of those shots on target, handing them a 3-2 win over the Koreans.
Meanwhile, Serbia, fresh off their loss against powerhouse Brazil, managed to tie Cameroon 3-3 in Group G. Serbia is now in a must-win situation against Switzerland, while Cameroon faces mighty Brazil next.
Bruno Fernandes Steals the Spotlight in Luis Suarez vs. Cristiano Ronaldo Face-off
It was a highly anticipated matchup as soccer superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez finally faced one another in the World Cup.
However, while the matchup between the two superstars was at the marquee, it was Portugal's Bruno Fernandes who shined that night, sinking a double and handing Portugal the crucial 2-0 victory.
However, the match does have its controversies, with a fan running into the middle of the field to protest Iran's treatment of women, Qatar's treatment of the LGBTQ community, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The other controversy was a handball incident that sparked an online debate about whether or not Portugal should have been given a penalty kick.

According to The Guardian, Portugal was handed a free penalty kick when the hand of Uruguay's Jose Maria Gimenez came into contact with the ball and blocked the path for Bruno Fernandez. This allowed the Portuguese player to sink that penalty goal and seal Uruguay's fate. Many argued that it was not really a handball as his hand came into contact with the ball by accident.
The loss also means that Suarez-led Uruguay may be facing elimination following the win by Ghana earlier that night. They are now in a must-win situation as they face the Black Stars next.
Meanwhile, Portugal is moving on after booking a ticket to the Round of 16.
Brazil Advances to Round of 16 Without Neymar
Neymar's injury at the hands of Serbia has certainly made Brazil sweat buckets as they faced Switzerland. However, as the game unfolded, Brazil stayed afloat and even won the match without their brightest star.
According to A Sports, Vinicius Jr. scored a goal in the second half, but following a VAR check, it was disallowed for offside. The match went on late, and it was on the verge of becoming a scoreless draw between the Swiss and the Brazilians until Casemiro saved the day with a late goal during the game's 90-minute mark.
The goal happened when Rodrygo flicked the ball towards Casemiro, who smashed it into the far corner, earning the Brazilians the win.
The Brazilians now face Cameroon next as they advance to the Round of 16. Meanwhile, Switzerland is in a must-win game against Serbia next.
