NBA 2K14 Features, Gameplay and Release Date: New Trailer Released as Gamers Anticipate PS4 [VIDEO]
It has been a busy 24 hours for sports-loving gamers.
NBA 2K14 fans in the United States can breathe a sigh of relief after it was announced yesterday that the Playstation 4 will officially be released in the United States Nov. 15, just in time for the holidays and NBA season. To take the excitement to another level, 2K14 also released the game's video trailer.
Although Nov. 15 is over a month after NBA 2K14's release, the two dates are relatively close enough in regards to the actual NBA season. The anticipation building up to the PS4 undoubtedly makes it worth the wait, and it should be especially comforting to know that the game will be available as soon as the console is released. The NBA 2K14 game on PS4 is expected to have special features that will not be seen or available on the PS3 or other older consoles.
2K Sports Senior VP of Basketball Operations Jason Argent told IGN that "Both current gen and next-gen will be unique, distinct, and independent from each other" but stopped short of elaborating on the specific differences.
In today's news, the NBA 2K14 video trailer should get quite a bit of attention as it marked the first time the Euroleague teams would be added to the series and featured in the video. This is also the first year since the PS3 was launched in 2007 that the NBA 2K series will be on a new Playstation console.
The trailer is framed in such a way that it markets to a wide audience, both domestically and globally. It starts by reassuring consumers that all of the usual NBA teams would be featured in the game but that the Euroleague teams would be mixed in, adding excitement and global diversity in the process.
The addition of Euorleague teams also adds another twist to the PS4 and 2K Sports because the PS4 will not be released in Europe until after it is available in the United States. This adds to the significance of the release date considering an American-based game is now being catered to a much wider, global community in a way that was never seen in previous years.
