Viral Lionel Messi Video Is Creeping the Heck Out of Viewers – Here’s Why
Lionel Messi has spent his entire life speaking Spanish or Catalan in Argentina and Spain, and he barely speaks any English. However, an AI software has been released, and a scary new video of it showed that the Paris Saint-Germaine star speaks up to 10 different languages.

Messi is fluent in Spanish because it is his native tongue in Argentina, as well as Catalan, the language in Barcelona, as he played for FC Barcelona for over two decades.
It is assumed that he cannot speak English that well, given his background. However, he admitted that he was trying to learn English when rumors of him transferring to Manchester City popped up.
This was still when his contract was about to end with FC Barcelona, and teams all over the world were trying to sign him. In the end, he signed with PSG and reunited with Neymar and future World Cup rival Kylian Mbappe.
Despite this, the video showed the Argentina Captain speaking in full sentences in English. It used the AI software known as Synthesia, which, according to Sport Bible, created a "synthetic representation" of Messi by using its "deep, learning algorithms." This allowed the Argentinian to be able to speak multiple languages.
Lionel Messi AI Draws Mixed Reactions
Deep fakes are not new and have been pointed out by cybersecurity experts as a cause for concern. However, a global star such as Lionel Messi being used for such a deep fake has scared a lot of people. Business and Technology consultant Mehmet Gonullu stressed that the next generation of phishing attacks will be AI-powered, as shown by what Synthesia can do. He added that this comes as organizations are already stressed by cyber fatigue and that it was already time to build resilience to this.

Another fan said the video was "Playing like an alien, now sounds like a robot. Very scary!"
However, there were still a few fans who thought all of this was kind of cool. One fan stated, "My God, he sounds so cool speaking English," while another added, "It's cool to hear him in English."
Will Lionel Messi Be Cheered or Booed in Paris When He Returns to Play for Paris Saint-Germaine?
Right now, Lionel Messi is focusing on his return to Paris when he suits up again for PSG. However, Lionel Messi is not the most popular person in France right now, especially as he received an extended vacation after his World Cup victory over the French national team, Le Bleus.
People fear that once he returns to Parc des Princes, the Argentina captain will be met with a chorus of boos. Some are saying that things might also be awkward when he reunites with Kylian Mbappe, whom he faced off against in the World Cup final.
However, PSG boss Christophe Galtier assured people that this would not happen and the Parisian crowd would welcome Messi back with open arms.
"Obviously he will be well received at home," he said, according to The Mirror. "On the reception at the stadium, I have no doubt that he will be well received at Parc des Princes."
The PSG boss also confirmed that Messi will return against Chateauroux on Friday evening.
