New York Mayor Eric Adams Slaps Joe Biden With Harsh Reality of Migrant Crisis
New York City Mayor Eric Adams labeled the migrant issue that he believes is overwhelming the Big Apple a "national embarrassment," claiming that the self-described sanctuary city has "no more space at the inn," according to Fox News.
Adams answered the question about the U.S. migrant crisis that has struck New York City in recent months, as tens of thousands of refugees have made their way to the city, including by bus.
"It's a real embarrassment, I believe, on a national level, and we must have an appropriate response. We have had conversations around the issues of migrants for decades. This is a national issue. It must have a national response," he said Tuesday on WABC's "Sid & Friends in the Morning."
Adams added that he believes the president must address the pressing issues. However, when it comes to immigration, the executive and legislative branches must work together.
Under President Joe Biden's administration, the border has been hammered by a historical number of migrants, with more than 2.3 million interactions in FY 2022. FY 2023 is on track to eclipse those massive figures.
In response to criticism of its policies, the White House cited the Department of Homeland Security's record funding levels, improved smuggling operations, and cooperation with countries in the Western Hemisphere.
Republicans were asked to back its attempts to win additional funds and approve comprehensive immigration reform legislation that would give millions of illegal immigrants a road to citizenship.

Colorado to Send More Migrants to New York
Mayor Eric Adams cautioned that Colorado Governor Jared Polis wants to send migrants to significant cities, including New York, noting that the country's largest city is already struggling to handle an influx of people brought in from Texas and other Republican-led states.
Yahoo! noted that the state has been assisting asylum seekers in reaching their final destinations, including New York City, for weeks, the Democratic governor claimed shortly afterward.
The only thing that has changed is the recent winter storm, which caused a travel disaster and a bottleneck of migrants trying to depart Denver.
In a radio interview, Adams stated that they were informed that the Colorado governor said they would send migrants to locations like New York and Chicago.
Adams added that it is simply unfair that local governments must shoulder this national responsibility.
Adams' assistant said the mayor's office was informed of the influx Monday evening.
New York City Has No Room for Asylum Seekers, Says Mayor
Denver is located roughly 700 miles directly north of El Paso via Interstate 25.
Asylum seekers were still being bused to the city by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who boasted about sending more than 4,900 to New York on Monday.
According to Polis, many of the migrants who would be taken to New York were delayed in Colorado owing to transportation delays brought on by "weather and workforce shortages."
Polis stated that no one should play politics with the lives of migrants who came to the country to flee injustice. He also said that Colorado respects their ideals of treating people with "dignity and respect."
According to Polis, many migrants the state was assisting with transportation were Venezuelan.
The city's most recent internal figures show that 35,700 asylum seekers have landed in five boroughs since last spring.
According to Fabien Levy, the press secretary for Mayor Eric Adams, more than 24,000 were lodged in 68 emergency shelters and four Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Centers, per the New York Post.
Since many of the asylum seekers stayed with relatives and friends, there were more migrants in the city than city statistics indicate, according to Levy.
Before the anticipated expiration of Title 42, Adams had notified city lawmakers that its shelter system was "at capacity" and urged Albany and Washington to provide funding for its initiatives to care for migrants.
The Supreme Court upheld the pandemic emergency measure that had sent 2.5 million migrants away from the border despite legal objections. Still, border communities had been inundated by a flood of newcomers who had flocked to the border in anticipation of the policy's expiration.
