NBA insiders told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that Stephen Curry's left leg injury will keep him out until after the All-Star break in the middle of February.

The Golden State Warriors announced on Sunday that Stephen Curry will miss Monday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to partial tears to the superior tibiofibular ligaments and the interosseous membrane, but that the next several days should give more light on a possible time frame.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr emphasized on Sunday that the situation might have worsened.

"I didn't know those ligaments existed,'' Kerr said, stating that the most important thing to him is that he will only be absent for some time, and the good news is that he will return.

Stephen Curry Injury

The Golden State Warriors won against the Dallas Mavericks (sans Luka Doncic) 119-113 Saturday night when Stephen Curry got injured.

A possible knee-to-knee collision between Curry and Mavericks guard McKinley Wright IV occurred in the third quarter as both players attempted to stop a drive by the other team.

As his leg buckled inward, Curry had to leave the game and go to the locker room, according to CBS Sports.

Shams Charania reported that he would be out for several weeks due to his injuries; a more precise timetable will be released later.

Stephen Curry has always had a durability issue.

Because of a left shoulder subluxation, Curry sat out for 11 games earlier this season. He sat out 18 games last season and has only played five times in the 2019-2020 season.

Multiple ankle problems slowed his progress early in his career, but he eventually overcame them and became an All-Star.

A long-term injury to Curry would be devastating news for a Golden State Warriors team that has fallen short of expectations this year. Despite winning the title last season, the Warriors are 27-26 after 53 games.

They are the seventh seed in the Western Conference, but the conference is so tight at the top that even a short absence from Curry might eliminate them from the playoffs.

They are barely 2.5 games ahead of the No. 13-seeded Lakers.

Is Stephen Curry's Injury Season-Ending?

The Golden State Warriors and the rest of the NBA mourn whenever Steph Curry is hurt.

The Warriors revealed on Sunday that Stephen Curry injury is partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane, as determined by an MRI performed on Saturday night.

This means Curry suffered a contusion (bruise) to his lower left leg muscles and partially torn (sprained) ligaments that attach the top of the tibia to the top of the fibula, NBC Sports noted.

According to reports from NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Poole, the Warriors expect Curry to return soon after the NBA All-Star break, although he will miss the next five games.

The team's return to action comes on February 23 against the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena.

Two days from now, Stephen Curry will get another evaluation. But here's the issue's core: His season is far from over.

"The good news is he's going to be back," Steve Kerr said Sunday after Warriors practice. "We don't exactly know when, but it's not an injury that will keep them out for the season. He's going to come back this season, hopefully, sooner rather than later, but we'll know more in a few days."
