After being kidnapped and raped by a man she met on social media, a Texas teen who had been reported missing in Dallas was discovered locked in a shed over a thousand miles away in North Carolina, according to authorities.

The 13-year-old girl was found in Lexington, which is about an hour's drive northeast of Charlotte, according to a statement from the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, according to CNN.

A Texas FBI special agent phoned the sheriff's office on Friday evening to discuss the matter, according to the sheriff's office.

The FBI collaborated with Dallas police to find that an adult male had been chatting with the minor online, the sheriff's office reported.

"The content of the chat was consistent with grooming and enticement," the release said.

A vehicle registered to a man in Davidson County was caught on camera near the teen's home, and the sheriff's office and FBI agents in Greensboro later stopped the vehicle as it left the guy's address.

"During the traffic stop, it was determined that the juvenile was locked in an outbuilding on the (suspect's) property," the release said.

The girl was discovered after deputies opened the shed, according to the sheriff's office. She was checked at the hospital and then flown back to Texas.

The Suspect Behind the Texas Teen's Abduction Was Arrested

The Texas teen and the suspect were talking about grooming and enticement, according to Davidson County Sheriff Richie Simmons.

Then the man enticed her to leave her home and picked her up in Dallas, Dallas Morning News Reports.

Jorge Comacho was named as a suspect by the police.

Comacho, 34, has been charged with various felonies, including abduction, constraint, indecent liberties with a child, statutory rape, sexual assault with a minor under 15, and human trafficking.

He has a $1.25 million bond and is being held in Davidson County.

The Dallas Police Department has verified that the Texas teen was found in North Carolina, but they have not disclosed any further information regarding the case.

When contacted, the department referred reporters to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office and the Dallas FBI office for comment.

"I thank God we were able to find this young girl," Simmons said.

The Shed Where the Texas Teen Was Locked Up Is Where the Suspect Lives

The shed was Camacho's "room," according to property residents who spoke to North Carolina reporters.

The other residents at the property said they had no idea a Texas girl was hiding out in the shed with Camacho and that they were friends but not close, WFAA reported.

The Texas teen's mom, Esthela, and her loved ones must focus on getting well before moving on.

"We're going to work together, get as much help as we can, and grow stronger," Esthela said.

But the mother warns other parents not to be too interested in their kids' online activities.

She knew that the teen played games and even knew her Discord login.

"We knew the risks, and we talked with her about them," Esthela said. "But still this happened, it was something awful."

She also said they are lucky that nothing worse has happened to her daughter.

Texas teen's mom said that when her daughter was found safe, she cried and felt so lucky to be reunited.

"Tears, hugs, and a learning experience for all of us," she said.

The case is still being investigated, according to the Dallas police.
