During the U.S. Air Force Academy's commencement ceremony in Colorado Springs on Thursday, President Joe Biden encountered an unexpected incident when he stumbled and fell, per Fox News.

However, the White House promptly assured the public that the president was unharmed, attributing the fall to tripping over a sandbag.

Earlier in the day, President Biden delivered the commencement address at the Air Force Academy. While interacting with guests on stage, the mishap occurred, but White House spokesman Ben LaBolt reassured everyone via a tweet that the president was okay. The presence of a sandbag on stage during the incident was noted.

It is worth noting that President Biden, aged 80, was informed by his doctor earlier this year about degenerative osteoarthritic abnormalities that pose challenges for him in walking freely.

Other Joe Biden Fall Incidents

Joe Biden's recent stumble at the U.S. Air Force Academy's commencement ceremony is not the first time he has faced public scrutiny over such incidents, USA Today noted.

Last summer, Biden fell off his bike at Cape Henlopen State Park near his Delaware beach house but assured everyone that he was uninjured. Another incident occurred as he hurried up the stairs to board Air Force One, where he momentarily lost his balance but swiftly regained his footing and carried on.

Between Biden's election victory and his inauguration, he fractured his foot while playing with one of his dogs, necessitating a walking boot for several weeks.

These incidents, especially the bicycle mishap, have become fodder for political opponents.

Republicans frequently highlighted Biden's bicycle spill. Now they have additional material that could potentially be used in future campaign ads, casting doubts on his fitness to serve as president in the 2024 presidential race.

When asked about Biden's recent fall, former President Donald Trump responded with a remark during a campaign event in Iowa, expressing hopes that Biden is well.

Trump then referenced the backlash he faced in 2020 for his cautious descent down a ramp at West Point's commencement ceremony, using it as a point of comparison. Trump, who is 76 years old, also faced criticism for his apparent difficulty raising a glass of water to his mouth.

Joe Biden Is Fit to Work, According to Doctor

President Joe Biden's physician has affirmed his overall health and suitability for his current role despite the incidents. The doctor's evaluation of Biden's stiff gait attributes it to age-related changes in his spine that result in "wear and tear," CNN reports.

The most recent physical examination indicates that there have been no significant changes in the president's condition, although it notes the possibility of tighter hamstrings and calves.

To showcase Biden's energy and vitality, his staff points to his extensive international travel and his demanding schedule.

Addressing the issue of his age, which political opponents have used to question his ability to serve a second term, President Biden humorously referred to his graduation from high school during his commencement address.

"When I was graduating from high school 300 years ago, I applied to the Naval Academy," he quipped, eliciting laughter from the audience.

While emphasizing the importance of U.S. support for its allies and partners, as well as ongoing assistance for Ukraine, Biden cautioned the U.S. Air Force Academy graduates about the ever-changing nature of the world they are entering.

President Joe Biden highlighted the challenges the cadets will face due to the proliferation of global threats, such as Russia's invasion of Ukraine, China's geopolitical competitiveness, climate change, and the advancement of artificial intelligence.

He praised the resilience and strength of the Ukrainian people, underscoring that America's commitment to supporting democracies remains unwavering.

The audience responded with applause as Biden declared, "The American people's support for Ukraine will not waiver. We always stand up for democracies, always."
