Florida: Protesters Wave Nazi Flag, Ron DeSantis Signs at Disney World
Governor Ron DeSantis' policies have attracted Nazis to support him, as a Florida protest outside of Disney World featured protesters waving swastika flags. These protesters appeared to be supporting the controversial Florida governor in his ongoing feud with Disney.
The Nazi protesters were spotted outside the Walt Disney World theme park in Orlando last Saturday, many of whome were waving red and black flags emblazoned with swastikas, Nazi, and white supremacist imagery, according to USA Today. Some of them were also holding posters of DeSantis and voicing their support for him.
DeSantis representatives, as well as Disney's, were reached for comments but have yet to respond to the requests. However, the pro-DeSantis Florida protesters got many pushbacks from plenty of rights groups. This includes the Combat Antisemitism Movement which pointed out that a similar incident happened last month.
The protest came as DeSantis continued his Disney World feud over LGBTQ rights. Disney, which is noted for giving its support to Florida politicians, opposed the controversial DeSantis-backed "Don't Say Gay law" and its expansions which banned the discussion of LGBTQ matters in schools. DeSantis pushed back at the Disney criticism and the feud continued to escalate even further.
Florida Protesters Shout Racist and Homophobic Slurs
Around a dozen Neo-Nazis took part in the protest in front of Disney World, with several concerned citizens sharing videos and images on social media. One of the first ones to share was Democratic Florida State Representative Anna V. Eskamani, who called the Nazi support of DeSantis disgusting.

Another DeSantis critic, lawyer Daniel Uhlfelder, called out DeSantis's Florida while activist Shannon Watts showed an image of the protesters proudly showing their Nazi symbols along with a DeSantis 2024 flag. The Florida governor is currently running for the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential elections.

Watts also revealed that the Nazi protesters were shouting racial and homophobic slurs, including the n-word. In one of the videos, one of the men was heard shouting "Go back to Mexico!" which is a common insult to people of Hispanic descent, even if they were not originally from Mexico in the first place.
Ron DeSantis's Press Secretary Deletes Tweet Questioning If Pro-DeSantis Protesters Were Nazis
The incident of Neo-Nazis showing their support for a Florida politician is nothing new, as back in 2022, a group of neo-Nazis lined a bridge in eastern Orange County while brandishing swastikas and pro-Trump banners while yelling profanities and antisemitic slurs at passing cars.
Now it seems the Neo-Nazis in Florida are being pro-DeSantis, though it seems that the governor's press secretary questioned if the pro-DeSantis protesters outside Disney World were actually Nazis despite the flags they were carrying.
According to Florida Politics, press secretary Christina Pushaw tweeted, "Do we even know they're Nazis?" This elicited a lot of criticism, with Pushaw deleting the tweet soon after.
