Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef have announced their divorce after being married for six years, as revealed in a joint statement on Thursday, CBS News noted.

The decision was made after careful consideration to transform their relationship while maintaining love, respect, and dignity for the sake of their children.

They expressed their desire to maintain a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on their genuine friendship as they continue to co-parent their children.

Martin and Yosef have two children together, a daughter Lucia (born in 2018), and a son Renn (born in 2019). Additionally, Martin is the father of twins Matteo and Valentino, born in 2008.

Last year, Ricky Martin faced allegations of harassment and was issued a restraining order.

Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, Ricky Martin's nephew, reportedly filed a restraining order against Martin.

Sanchez claimed he had been in a romantic relationship with his uncle for seven months before they broke up two months ago.

Martin did not accept the separation and continued to contact him frequently, according to Sanchez, and alleged that Martin loitered around his residence on multiple occasions, causing him to fear for his safety.

Sanchez also claimed that Martin has been consuming significant amounts of alcohol and drugs.

The restraining order prohibits Martin from contacting Sanchez in person or over the phone.

It also directs Martin to refrain from approaching, harassing, intimidating, threatening, or interfering with Sanchez.

However, Ricky Martin publicly refuted the allegations in a tweet, asserting their falsehood and his commitment to dealing with them responsibly.

The case was subsequently resolved, with the petitioner voluntarily withdrawing the claims, leading to the closure of the case, as confirmed by a judicial spokesperson at the time.

Ricky Martin, 51, and Jwan Yosef, 38, initially connected through Instagram in 2015 and began dating six months after meeting in person in London, according to PEOPLE.

They made their relationship public at the 2016 amFAR Inspiration Gala and announced their engagement that year. The couple tied the knot in 2018.

"I'm a husband, but we're doing a heavy party in a couple of months," Martin said during an interview with E! News in January 2018, adding that they had exchanged vows, signed all necessary paperwork, including prenuptial agreements, and planned to celebrate with a grand party in the following months.

Both Martin and Yosef, who are fluent in multiple languages, have expressed their commitment to passing down their linguistic abilities to their four children.

Spanish is spoken at home, but the children speak English and French fluently. Ricky Martin revealed that his twin sons were enrolled in a French school during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2013.

Jwan Yosef has additionally expressed his focus on teaching their two youngest children Arabic.

"The way I bring up my babies is that I focus on Arabic rather than English or Swedish," Yosef said during an interview in 2021.

"I taught my kid how to count to 10 in Arabic, and she's only 2, which is wonderful," he added.
