iPhone 6 Release Rumors, Features and Updates: Is Apple Planning to Release a 128-GB Model Phone? [Watch]
Rumors and reports are suggesting that Apple will no longer offer the 16-gigabyte (GB) iPhone model and will instead feature a roomy 128-gigabyte model.
These are just some of the rumors surfacing on the latest iPhone, which could be called the iPhone 6 or the iPhone Air.
Let's look at more features the new phones are supposed to have.
Size
Seeing the success Android has enjoyed with larger screens, Apple decided it's time to increase the size of its screens as well. Coming your way is a 4.7-inch screen for the default model, 0.7 inches bigger than the iPhone 5 and 5s. Additionally, a larger phablet-style (phone/tablet) model will measure in at 5.5 inches.
Optical Image Stabilization
One rumor suggests the camera in the 5.5-inch model will have optical image stablization for photos and the 4.7-inch model will not. This rumor came from the reliable Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. Kuo said that's because of supply limitations and Apple's desire to distinguish the 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch models.
More Storage
Chinese website Wei Feng reported to MacRumors that the 5.5-inch model will be available with a large 128 GB of storage space, the most yet for an iPhone. Only iPads offer that much space right now. Additionally, Wei Feng says the entry-level 4.7-inch model will start with 32 GB of storage. That eliminates the normal low-end 16 GB option.
Plastic Insert?
Mock devices leaked from Foxconn months ago suggest a somewhat ugly plastic insert on the back of the aluminum cases of both sizes of the new iPhone. Apparently the insert helps the antenna get better reception.
Here is a video of some mockups of the new iPhone and what it could look like:
