The murder of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur has captivated the world for decades and it seems that the case has been reopened in Las Vegas after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department searched a home in Henderson, Nevada in connection to the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed the music legend.

"LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation," said the Las Vegas police in a statement, though they did not give any further comment on the matter.

CBS News reported that the house they raided was less than 20 miles from the Las Vegas strip where the legendary rapper was shot dead almost 30 years ago.

He was with Marion "Suge" Knight, head of Death Row Records, at the time of his death. They just left a boxing match at the MGM Grand in a black BMW when they stopped at a red light at East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane on the Las Vegas Strip. This was when a white Cadillac pulled up and opened fire at Tupac. He survived the attack initially but later succumbed to his wounds just six days after.

Since then, nobody has been arrested in connection to his death as witnesses refused to cooperate with the Las Vegas police. It has captivated the world's imagination ever since and immortalized the rapper through his tragedy.

Legendary Rapper and Rival Notorious BIG Connected to Tupac Shakur Murder

Around the time of his death, Tupac was embroiled in a bitter rivalry with fellow rapper Christopher Wallace, better known as the Notorious BIG, who has been implicated in his rival's 1996 death, according to The Independent.

The Notorious BIG reportedly paid off members of a Los Angeles Crips gang to kill Tupac around $1 million. He also reportedly provided the gun that was used by the gang members to kill his bitter rival.

While Tupac was in Las Vegas to watch his friend Mike Tyson fight, his Death Row Records label was embroiled in a war of words with the Notorious BIG's Bad Boy Entertainment label. This was also the height of the bitter East Coast-West Coast hip-hop feud that also took the life of the Notorious BIG.

 The rival rapper denied any involvement in Tupac's death before getting killed himself in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles just six months after Tupac was killed.

Tupac Shakur Was Allegedly Killed by Gang Member Orlando Anderson

The man who shot Tupac was identified as Crips gang member Orlando Anderson by an informant named Trevon 'Tray' Lane, a member of the rival Bloods gang. However, according to Ask Hip Hop, while initially named a suspect, police discounted him after only interviewing him once briefly.

Anderson also denied being the one who pulled the trigger on the hip-hop superstar in subsequent interviews. However, he was the prime suspect in the case as he and Tupac had a very visible argument at the MGM Grand before the Mike Tyson fight.

The suspect allegedly shot Tupac in retaliation for attacking him. Police only had circumstantial evidence and were never really able to bring him to justice. He was later killed during an unrelated gang shooting in May 1998.
