Ron DeSantis 2024 Presidential Campaign Spent Too Much Money, Said Officials
The car accident comes after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' White House campaign has recently experienced financial challenges, leading to significant staff cuts, per BBC.
More than a third of the campaign's staff, totaling 38 jobs across various departments, has been let go as part of an effort to "streamline operations," according to a statement from his campaign manager, Generra Peck.
Reports suggest that the campaign has spent substantial money in the two months since DeSantis declared his candidacy for the 2024 presidential race.
This spending, coupled with what is described as a disappointing start to the campaign, has prompted top officials to implement a campaign "reset."
During a meeting with leading campaign contributors and bundlers, campaign officials acknowledged that money had been expended on unsuccessful operations.
They pledged to make further changes as DeSantis aims to rebound from the initial setback and strengthen his campaign going forward.
The campaign is now aiming to adopt a leaner and more "insurgent" approach in its future efforts, indicating a shift in strategy and resource management to improve its campaign's prospects.
"Something needs to change, and there needs to be a new ignition," a leading DeSantis donor told Fox News.
Ron DeSantis Campaign Aide Fired After Posting Neo-Nazi Meme Video
A campaign staffer working for Ron DeSantis has been fired after sharing an online video that used Nazi imagery with the Florida governor's face.
The staffer, Nate Hochman, was a 25-year-old member of the campaign communications team and had previously written for well-known publications such as The National Review and The New York Times.
Over the weekend, Hochman shared a video on an anonymous pro-DeSantis Twitter account. The video featured a meme template associated with far-right and neo-fascist creators.
In the video, a "wojack" character is depicted as unhappy with news footage of former President Donald Trump.
The Florida state seal turns into the Nazi-appropriated Sonnenrad symbol, with Governor DeSantis superimposed on the icon in front of soldiers marching in formation.
The video was retweeted by Hochman before it was deleted, as reported by The Independent.
Further investigation indicates that Hochman had retweeted posts from the anonymous account on at least six other occasions.
