The Threats Utah Man Posted
Prosecutors have alleged that the man, identified as Craig Robertson, had posted threatening content on social media, including a post on Monday stating, "I hear Biden is coming to Utah. Digging out my old Ghille suit and cleaning the dust off the m24 sniper rifle. Welcome, [sic] buffoon-in-chief!"
The FBI spokesperson informed Fox News that the incident is under investigation. A law enforcement source confirmed that the individual was armed.
President Joe Biden visited Salt Lake City Wednesday.
A complaint filed by prosecutors in US District Court, Utah district, charged Robertson with interstate threats, influencing, impeding, and retaliating against federal law enforcement officers through threats and threats against the president.
The prosecutors' complaint alleges that Robertson threatened to kill Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and posted content indicating his intent to kill D.A. Bragg and President Biden.
His social media posts also contained threats against other politicians, including California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Moreover, Robertson also threatens to kill US Vice President Kamala Harris.
An FBI agent mentioned in a court filing that Robertson seemed to possess a sniper rifle, a ghillie suit, and other firearms.
The US Secret Service, via a spokesperson, addressed the incident on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), acknowledging their awareness of the FBI's investigation involving an individual in Utah who had exhibited threats towards a Secret Service protectee.
The statement indicated that the FBI led the effort and directed inquiries to the FBI and DOJ.
"We are aware of the FBI investigation involving an individual in Utah who has exhibited threats towards a Secret Service protectee. While we always remain in close coordination with the Bureau, this is an FBI-led effort, and we refer any related questions to the FBI and DOJ," the spokesperson wrote.
FBI Previously Visited the Utah Man for His Threats on Social Media
Earlier in March, FBI agents visited Robertson's residence due to a concerning social media post, according to CNN.
Robertson's responses during this interaction were evasive, with him allegedly stating, "I said it was a dream!" and "We're done here! Don't return without a warrant."
Following this encounter, the Utah man purportedly continued to threaten FBI agents through online posts, one of which was cited in court documents saying: "To my friends in the federal bureau of idiots: I know you're reading this and you have no idea how close your agents came to 'bang.'"
