"Bachelorette" alum has reassured his followers of his well-being following a recent Josh Seiter dead hoax on his Instagram account, according to ABC News.

Taking to his Instagram on August 29, Seiter shared a video of standing against a plain white backdrop, clad in a blue T-shirt.

He revealed that his account had fallen victim to a "hack," and he had been striving to regain control over the past 24 hours.

In the video, Seiter, who has candidly discussed his mental health journey online previously, expressed his distress over the incident. He noted that someone had exploited his struggles with depression and suicide attempts, using the post to cruelly mock his experiences.

Seiter expressed gratitude for the regained access and acknowledged his team's ongoing efforts to identify the perpetrator behind the hack. He also extended apologies to his followers for the ensuing confusion caused by the false announcement.

In a subsequent conversation with "Good Morning America," Seiter affirmed his current state of being, emphasizing that he is "alive and well."

Josh Seiter Dead Hoax

The Josh Seiter news emerged just four days after the model candidly discussed his ongoing battle with mental health on social media, PEOPLE noted.

In a selfie shared on Instagram, he captioned, "Surviving depression and anxiety one day at a time with a smile."

Soon after, an announcement appeared on Josh Seiter's Instagram account, claiming his demise."It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the tragic news of Joshua's unexpected passing," the post read.

It highlighted Seiter's radiant presence, which stood out in a world growing dim.

While the statement refrained from disclosing the cause of death, it concluded by providing the contact number for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, intended for those grappling with mental health crises.

Josh Seiter, known for participating in "The Bachelorette," has maintained an open dialogue about his mental health journey on social media platforms.

He disclosed a history of suicide attempts and the challenges tied to bipolar disorder, general anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder in July 2021.

Asserting his resilience, he wrote, "But I refuse to give up," within the Instagram caption.

A year later, Seiter delved into the hardships he surmounted during his early twenties in an Instagram post, reflecting his commitment to sharing his personal growth journey.

Josh Seiter Dead Hoax Recalls Lil Tay News Earlier This Month

The recent rapid turn of events echoes a previous instance of media frenzy and confusion involving the purported "death" of Lil Tay earlier this month, per The Guardian.

Lil Tay, a former social media sensation, had risen to fame on Instagram in 2018 as a young rapper characterized by her audacious demeanor.

The scenario bore similarities to the recent situation with the Josh Seiter dead hoax.

Much like Josh Seiter's case, numerous media outlets treated Lil Tay's reported demise as fact. This followed a statement attributed to her family that appeared on her previously inactive Instagram account.

However, this assertion was met with skepticism when neither her father, Christopher Hope, nor her former manager, Harry Tsang, could validate her passing.

The uncertainty triggered online speculation about a potential hoax.

Within a day, TMZ refuted the claims of Lil Tay's death, citing a subsequent statement from her and her brother, Jason Tian, who was also said to have passed away.

"I'm completely heartbroken and struggling to find the right words to say. It's been a very traumatizing 24 hours," Lil Tay stated, expressing deep distress.

She asserted that a third party had compromised her Instagram account, leading to the dissemination of misleading information and rumors about her, including details regarding her legal name.
