Texas Courtroom Erupts in a Brawl After Suspect Pleads Guilty to Murdering Teen Girl
It was sheer bedlam inside a Texas courtroom after suspect Frank DeLeon pleaded guilty to murdering 16-year-old Diamond Alvarez in 2022, as it soon became an all-out brawl between the mother of the victim and the mother of the alleged killer.
The 19-year-old suspect agreed to plead guilty to murdering Diamond Alvarez in exchange for a 45-year prison sentence. He shot her nearly a dozen times in January 2022 while she was walking her dog.
The hearing that resulted in that Texas brawl happened last Tuesday, and it began when Alvarez's mother, Anna Machado, took the witness stand. She was reportedly just finished giving a victim impact statement when she suddenly walked to where Fran DeLeon was being held. She was not able to reach him as a bailiff blocked her path.
This was when the victim's uncle suddenly tried rushing to the front of the courtroom to reach DeLeon. Authorities were able to restrain the man, but things escalated into an all-out brawl soon after.
According to CBS Texas, DeLeon's mother rushed in after the victim's uncle was restrained and confronted Anna Machado. This led to some shoving on the part of the suspect's mother while the victim's mother stood her ground. Suddenly, DeLeon's mother was pulled to the ground as the brawl ensued.
Bailiffs soon managed to pull the two women apart and secure the Texas courtroom. Other sources also claimed that other family members of the victim tried to get to Frank DeLeon but failed.

Local Houston news channel KHOU-11 managed to capture the Texas brawl on tape. The outlet also managed to speak with Anna Machado after the hearing, which went south after she tried approaching suspect Frank DeLeon.
"It was wrong of us and I apologize for that. I apologize to the judge, apologize to them ... and I'm so sorry. This should never happen," she said.

A trial was set to begin later this week, but DeLeon changed course and decided to accept the plea agreement. Under this agreement, he must serve at least half of his 45-year sentence before he can be eligible for parole. Diamond Alvarez's family has called him a monster.
"This is a heartbreaking domestic violence case of a young girl who was murdered by someone she dated," said Harris County DA Kim Ogg in a statement. "Our office has devoted significant resources, including investigators, prosecutors, and public service campaigns to raise awareness about the incredible danger of intimate partner violence to try to end horrible cases like this."
Frank DeLeon Lured Ex-Girlfriend Diamond Alvarez Before Killing Her
The murder of Diamond Alvarez happened on the evening of Jan. 11, 2022. The suspect was Alvarez's ex, Frank DeLeon, who was arrested after a car accident where he sustained a "significant" head injury.
Authorities say the couple broke up after Alvarez discovered that DeLeon was cheating on her with another girl. After the breakup, DeLeon arranged to meet with Alvarez at a nearby park in southwest Houston. The victim was also walking her dog at that time when DeLeon shot her 22 times before leaving her body in a field.
