Tyler Christopher, best known for his daytime soap opera roles in "General Hospital" and "Days of Our Lives," has passed away. The 2-time Daytime Emmy Award winner was 50 years old.

The actor's passing was revealed by "General Hospital" co-star Maurice Benard, who wrote on social media, "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher," he said, revealing that Christopher passed away in his San Diego apartment following a cardiac event.

Benard remembered his soap opera co-star, adding, "Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting. Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him."

"Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father." Benard concluded in his post.

General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini spoke with PEOPLE Magazine following the actor's passing, saying, "I am heartbroken over the news of Tyler Christopher's passing. He was kind, an incredible actor, and dear friend, who was beloved by our GH family and fans of Nikolas Cassadine."

Valentini also sent his condolences to Christopher's loved ones, saying, "On behalf of everyone at General Hospital, our heartfelt sympathies go out to his loved ones during this difficult time."

Tyler Christopher Representative Confirms 'General Hospital' Actor's Death

Meanwhile, Tyler Christopher's representative, Chi Muoi Lo, spoke with the New York Post and confirmed that the "Days of Our Lives" actor has passed away.

"I can confirm that Tyler Christopher has passed away this morning," he told the outlet. "This news was incredibly shocking, and I am devastated by his loss. He was a very gifted actor, and more importantly, an amazing friend. My heart goes out to his friends and family who loved him so much."

Christopher was married to Latina actress Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004. After moving on, he went into a longer relationship with ESPN racing reporter Brienne Pedigo, with the couple marrying in 2008. However, they finally divorced in 2021. He is survived by his two kids with Pedigo, his son Greyson James, and his daughter Boheme.

Tyler Christopher's Long Soap Opera Career With 'General Hospital' and 'Days of Our Lives'

Christopher has had a celebrated career as an actor, nominated for five Emmy Awards and winning two of them. As CNN noted, his most iconic role is as Nikolas Cassadine on the long-running daytime soap opera "General Hospital."

He also played Connor Bishop in that same show from 2004 to 2005. He earned one Emmy win for his performance as Cassadine.

After leaving the show, he then appeared in another iconic soap opera, "Days of Our Lives," where he played Stefan DiMera from 2018-2019. He won his second Daytime Emmy for that role, according to CNN.
