Florida law enforcement is treating the disappearance of Shakira Yvonne Rucker as a homicide after discovering her lifeless body in a storage unit linked to her estranged husband, Cory Hill.

Rucker was reported missing by her family to the Winter Springs Police Department on November 13, stating they last saw her on November 11, according to CNN.

The missing Florida woman left her home around 7:30 PM that day, possibly with Hill, prompting concerns for her safety, according to police.

The family's worries intensified as days passed without any contact from Rucker, leading to a four-county search involving various law enforcement agencies, including the FBI.

The exhaustive efforts culminated in a tragic discovery on Saturday when authorities informed Rucker's family of her body found in a storage unit in Apopka, approximately 20 miles from Winter Springs.

Body of Missing Florida Woman Found

A report was filed with the Orange County Sheriff's Office regarding an unusual smell coming from the Florida storage unit linked to Hill, as reported by Newsweek.

Upon entering, deputies uncovered Rucker's body, revealing she had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Sheriff David Mina expressed frustration, stating that Hill, as the unit's registrant, should have foreseen the inevitable discovery.

"Cory Hill could have stopped a lot of that pain and suffering by talking to investigators in the very beginning, instead of putting them through this week-long nightmare," Mina stated.

He emphasized that the storage unit, registered in Hill's name, made it inevitable for law enforcement to eventually discover the body of the missing Florida woman, Shakeira Yvonne Rucker.

Though Hill has not confessed to any involvement in the missing Florida woman's death, he is now the prime suspect.

Missing Florida Woman's Estrange Husband

Cory Hill is currently held without bond on charges related to attempted first-degree murder, violation of a domestic violence injunction shooting into an occupied dwelling, possession of a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, and criminal mischief.

Additional charges tied to Rucker's case are anticipated.

Records from Suffolk, Virginia, reveal a previous conviction for the murder of 18-year-old Dontwaine Cornelius Everett.

In this case, Hill shot Everett during an argument, resulting in a 20-year prison sentence for second-degree murder and an additional two years for using a firearm in the commission of a felony, Fox 35 noted.

Hill's violent history doesn't end there. In 2009, he faced assault and battery charges three times, illustrating a pattern of aggression.

On November 12, a separate incident occurred when Hill allegedly approached a woman, Angel Mulligan, with a gun on Holly Creek Road in Orange County. Fortunately, no one was injured, and Hill fled before detectives arrived.

Milligan described the terrifying encounter on November 12, recounting Hill's threatening words and the gunfire that narrowly missed her.

"He was trying to kill me," she stated, highlighting the escalating danger associated with Hill's actions.

Milligan revealed that she and Hill were once romantically involved and shared a residence.

However, she decided to end the relationship in September after a conversation with the Florida woman, Shakeira Yvonne Rucker.

"Rucker said, 'Hey, do you know he's married?'," Milligan recounted. "I'm like, 'No, all I know is so far he's telling me he's out of town at work'."

Taking proactive measures, Milligan filed an injunction against Hill.

Despite this, she was taken aback to find him at her residence on Sunday, November 12. Shock quickly turned to fear when Hill brandished a gun.

"He said, 'Don't run now'," Milligan recalled. "That was the first thing he said. 'Don't run now'. At that point, I tried to turn my back to run into the house, and all I heard was gunshots. I felt the wind of like two of them graze past my face as I'm running."
