After seven years together, Mariah Carey and Bryan Tanaka have decided to part ways, with the primary reason reportedly being Tanaka's desire to start a family, per the Daily Mail.

The couple's split was initially reported, and now sources close to the situation have shed light on the underlying factors contributing to their decision.

The age gap between Carey, 54, and Tanaka, 40, is noted to be 14 years, and according to insiders, this difference played a role in their diverse aspirations.

Tanaka expressed a desire to have a family, a path Carey, who shares 12-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-husband Nick Cannon.

"He wants to have a family. That's not where she is at," said the insider.

Maria Carey's Recent Trip Hints Breakup

This week, during Carey's annual trip to Aspen, Colorado, eyebrows were raised as she ventured solo, marking a departure from her usual holiday traditions, according to Page Six.

Additionally, Tanaka was noticeably absent from Carey's "Merry Christmas One and All!" tour that commenced in November at the Yaamava Resort & Casino in Highland, California.

The couple, who began their professional relationship in 2006 when Tanaka worked as a dancer for Carey, officially started dating in 2016.

Tanaka's desire to carve out his own path is cited as a significant factor in their decision to part ways.

Adding to the speculation surrounding their breakup, Carey shared with People earlier this month that she had a challenging year and expressed anticipation for the holiday season.

Despite thanking her fans, she acknowledged that the previous Christmas was not her most enjoyable, vowing to have fun during the 2023 holiday season.

"I'm thankful for them all, but it wasn't my most fun version of Christmas ever," Carey said.

The Grammy winner and Tanaka were last seen together during Carey's birthday celebrations in March, marking a period of notable public appearances as a couple.

Carey and Tanaka's connection goes back to 2006 when they collaborated professionally, initially in a dancer-artist capacity, ET Online noted.

Over the years, their relationship evolved, gaining attention during a beachy Thanksgiving vacation and their travels to New York City.

Their romance even became part of Carey's reality TV series, "Mariah's World."

The couple briefly parted ways in 2017 after an intense St. Patrick's Day altercation but quickly reconciled.

Mariah Carey's romantic history includes marriage to music executive Tommy Mottola in the late 1990s, relationships with Derek Jeter and Luis Miguel, and a six-year marriage to Nick Cannon that ended in 2014, The Sun reports.

Following her split from Cannon, Carey was engaged to billionaire James Packer in 2016, but the engagement was called off by the end of the year.
