Minnesota: 3, Including Alleged Gunman Dead Following Hotel Shooting
A tragic Minnesota hotel shooting on Monday night has left three dead, including the suspected gunman, as authorities in Cloquet work to uncover the motive behind the deadly incident, according to Pine Journal.
The Cloquet Police Department is still piecing together the events that transpired during the shooting at the Super 8 hotel.
Police Chief Derek Randall addressed the community during a news conference on Tuesday, acknowledging the difficult night experienced by Cloquet.
The police received a call at 6:34 p.m. from a Super 8 hotel employee reporting an apparent attack on another staff member.
Responding promptly, officers arrived within three minutes to find a 22-year-old female clerk with a gunshot wound.
Despite being transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, the young woman succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation revealed a 35-year-old man from Deer River dead inside a vehicle in the hotel parking lot, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Additionally, a 32-year-old man from Ramsey, Minnesota, the suspected Minnesota gunman, was found dead with what seemed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the hotel property.
The police believe the clerk was the initial victim, followed by the man in the car before the suspect turned the gun on himself.
Shelter-in-Place Alert Issued During Minnesota Hotel Shooting
The Minnesota hotel shooting, captured on video, lasted approximately 10 minutes before law enforcement arrived on the scene, per The Hill.
While authorities have not released the names of the victims or the suspected Minnesota gunman, Chief Randall confirmed that there is no current information about a motive or connection between the three individuals.
The investigation is ongoing, but the police have assured the public that there are no further threats.
Following the incident, a shelter-in-place notification was issued for the vicinity near Super 8, affecting the area around Big Lake Road and Highway 33.
The alert was prompted by the belief that an active shooter situation was unfolding, urging caution until more information about the suspect's whereabouts became available.
The order was lifted 90 minutes later when the police confirmed the suspected Minnesota gunman's death and declared no ongoing threat.
