US Winter Storm: Arctic Blast Continues Causing Freezing Weather All Over Country
The weather phenomenon known as the Arctic Blast is continuing to complicate the freezing weather conditions all over the Lower 48 as US winter storms continue to wreak havoc all over, causing blizzards, heavy snow, strong winds, freezing rain, and more.
According to ABC News, the temperatures in the country have reached dangerous lows, and that the US winter storms have paralyzed parts of the country from Chicago to Tennessee. Meanwhile, the West and the Northeast are bracing for even more snowfall.
There had been at least 28 weather-related deaths across the US this week, with 10 states reporting these deaths, including Oregon, New York, and Tennessee. Many of these areas have also reported dangerously low temperatures, including minus 13 degrees in Nashville, Tennessee.
Over in Oregon, it became so cold that icicle trees started forming, with I-84 being closed down due to the freezing rain. There is also a possible hypothermia death in the state as a person was found dead inside their home near Portland. The Washington County Medical Examiner's Office is currently investigating the cause, though no name, age, or gender has been revealed publicly yet.
Even the warmer states in the US were not exempt from the extreme colds as Tampa, Florida, normally known for its war weather, received a wind chill advisory on Wednesday. Meanwhile, there are wind chill forecasts in Chicago, Kansas City, Missouri, and Memphis, Tennessee.
Over 2,100 flights have also been canceled on Wednesday as the winter weather got dangerous, with over 3,000 planes being grounded. However, it should be noted that many canceled flights were not weather-related but more because many of the planes did not make it to their destinations yesterday.
Texas Residents Asked To Conserve Power Amid US Winter Storm
Meanwhile, over in Texas, which has its own power grid that is separate from the rest of the country, the US winter storm may be causing more problems than just foul weather.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the electric company servicing the state, asked its consumers to continue conserving power for another day despite freezing temperatures ravaging the entire state.
However, things may be looking up for Texas as temperatures are forecasted to climb tomorrow, though there are still increased power demands expected as more people use heaters to deal with the cold temperatures as the state seeks to avoid the fiasco that happened three years ago where millions of Texans went without power due to the Texas power grid being overwhelmed and failing.
Pacific Northwest Facing Ice Storm During US Winter Storm
The rough weather in the US is also affecting the Pacific Northwest as an ice storm pummeled the region last Wednesday, with mountain highways becoming slippery and bitterly cold temperatures threatening power outages and school closures.
As the Arctic Blast continues pummeling the US, the Pacific Northwest, particularly southwest Washington and western Oregon, is experiencing freezing rain, with these areas expecting a quarter-inch to an inch of ice. Several areas have been forced to stop bad services due to dangerous road conditions, with warming shelters also being opened.
