Florida Woman Steals Patrol Vehicle, Dies in Wrong-Way Crash Killing 2, Injuring 1
A chaotic incident unfolded in Silver Springs, Florida, when Kendra Boone, 33, stole a Marion County Sheriff's Office patrol car, leading to a high-speed chase and a fatal collision, Miami Herald reports.
The tragedy resulted in the Florida woman's death and claimed the lives of two innocent individuals, with another critically injured.
Florida Deadly Crash
The Florida woman, Kendra Boone, took advantage of an opportunity on February 1 at a Silver Springs shopping center, slipping into Deputy Christopher Witte's patrol car through the passenger side, per the Daily Mail.
Bodycam footage reveals Deputy Witte attempting to intervene, but Boone, already behind the wheel, accelerated away, reaching speeds exceeding 100 mph.
'Stop, stop!' Witte shouted as the vehicle tore away. 'She just got in my car and took off.'
Deputy Witte, responding to reports of Boone attempting to take an elderly woman's car keys, confronted her at the Forest Shopping Center.
Despite instructing her to stay behind the patrol car, Boone swiftly entered through the passenger side and drove off, prompting a pursuit.
Boone's erratic driving, surpassing 100 mph, led deputies to lose visual contact multiple times. The chase continued with her making U-turns and attempting to evade law enforcement.
Boone's reckless driving took a devastating turn when attempting to pass a semi-truck; she left the roadway and collided with oncoming traffic, striking a black GMC pickup.
Upon catching up with the scene, deputies found Boone and the occupants of the pickup unresponsive.

Boone and two others were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third person was critically injured and transported to a hospital in Ocala.
The deceased victims, a 73-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman from Waterloo, South Carolina, were identified among the casualties.
The Florida Highway Patrol has withheld details about the surviving individual, except that he is male.
Sheriff's Response to Florida Woman's Act
Sheriff Billy Woods addressed the incident, defending Deputy Witte, emphasizing that the deputy followed procedures and Boone's actions were unforeseeable.
"My deputy did absolutely nothing wrong," Woods said at the press conference.
The sheriff emphasized the unpredictability law enforcement faces, highlighting the rapidity of the incident involving Boone climbing through the window, according to Ocala StarBanner.
He asserted that no policy or procedure could have prevented her actions, referring to her as a "moron" and placing the blame squarely on her for the tragic outcome.
Sheriff Woods, displaying Boone's extensive criminal history, cited 13 felony arrests and nine misdemeanors.
Boone's record includes a trespassing charge in February 2020, followed by an arrest in July 2020 for violating probation related to burglary.
Her last arrest in October 2021 included charges of trespassing and fleeing. Despite imprisonment in May 2022, Boone was released in October 2023.
Sheriff Woods urged accountability, stating that if the Florida woman had received a prison sentence for violating probation, the tragedy might have been averted.
He expressed frustration over the loss of innocent lives, blaming Boone for the unfortunate outcome.
