Wisconsin: Chicago Teens Break Into Luxury Dealership, Steal Over $500,000 Worth of Cars
A group of Chicago teens believed to be from the Chicago area orchestrated a bold break-in at a Jaguar-Land Rover dealership in Waukesha, Wisconsin, making off with nine luxury vehicles valued at over $583,000, according to Waukesha police.
Surveillance footage from Sunday morning captured the audacious crime, with nine masked suspects infiltrating the Wisconsin luxury dealership, each leaving with a stolen vehicle., per Fox 12.
Waukesha Police Capt. Dan Baumann disclosed that the break-in occurred around 6 a.m., as the perpetrators located and utilized stored car keys and key fobs to facilitate their theft.
"Nine subjects went out and throughout there looking for keys. One person finds where the keys were hidden and then starts to disseminate those to his friends," Baumann explained to WISN-TV.
Brazen Tactics and Valuable Loot
One of the suspected Chicago teens reportedly used a stolen Land Rover Velar "as a battering ram" to crash through the dealership's garage door, as detailed in the criminal complaint, according to the New York Post.
The stolen fleet included a 2019 Porsche Macan, a 2024 Land Rover Discovery Dynamic, and a 2021 Jaguar F Type R-Dynamic, with the cumulative value of the vehicles reaching $583,339. Notably, eight of the cars belonged to the dealership, while one was a customer's vehicle.
The Wisconsin luxury dealership owners arrived later at a scene of chaos, discovering the garage door obliterated and shattered glass scattered throughout the parking lot.
The daring theft prompted a nearly 40-mile chase on Sunday morning, culminating in the crash of a stolen 2021 Land Rover-Range Rover Westminster, valued at $73,998, in the West Allis area.
Arrest and Recovery Efforts
Following the crash, 17-year-old Calvin Valentine, one of the suspected Chicago teens, was swiftly apprehended in Pleasant Prairie.
Held at the Waukesha County Jail on a $50,000 bond, the teenager faces charges of burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property, Daily Mail reports.
Law enforcement has successfully recovered six of the nine stolen vehicles - four in Chicago, one in Deerfield, and one in Wisconsin.
Waukesha Police Capt. Baumann expressed the belief that this heist was a well-coordinated and possibly professional endeavor by an organized crime group of teenagers from the Chicago area.
He dismissed the notion of impulsive teenage mischief, stating, "This wasn't just a group of kids that just decided to stay up late one-night playing video games and say, 'Hey, let's go see if the nine of us can travel two hours away to commit crimes'."
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to identify the remaining eight Chicago teens involved in this sophisticated operation.
The recovered vehicles from the Wisconsin luxury dealership stand as evidence in a case that has brought attention to the audacious actions of these young criminals and the extensive efforts required to bring them to justice.
