The Miami Heat will be tackling the Sacramento Kings on Monday night at Golden 1 Center without their star player, Jimmy Butler, who is suspended following an on-court Heat-Pelicans fight on Friday night, as announced by the NBA on Sunday.

In addition to Butler, two other Heat players, center Thomas Bryant and forward Nikola Jović, have also been suspended due to their involvement in the incident, according to YSports.

The trio will be absent from Monday night's matchup against the Kings in Sacramento. Butler, aged 34, holds the position of Miami's leading scorer in the current NBA season, averaging 21.4 points per game.

Jović contributes an average of 5.8 points in 16.7 minutes per game, while Bryant records 10.4 minutes per contest, delivering 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

The On-Court Altercation

The Heat-Pelicans fight unfolded when Heat forward/center Kevin Love wrapped up Pelicans star Zion Williamson during a layup attempt early in the fourth quarter, Hoops Rumors reports.

This led to a confrontation between Love and Pelicans' Darius Marshall, which escalated into a shoving match involving Jimmy Butler.

The situation intensified as Bryant and Pelicans' Jose Alvarado exchanged heated words and punches in front of the scorer's table, resulting in ejections for Butler, Bryant, Marshall, and Alvarado.

As both teams gathered and exchanged verbal jabs after Williamson hit the floor, Marshall and Butler became entangled, requiring separation after multiple attempts to go after each other.

During the separation process, Bryant and Alvarado engaged in a physical altercation near the scorers' table, reigniting tensions.

Pelicans coach Willie Green characterized the incident as two competitive teams vying for victory, acknowledging that such situations can arise during intense matchups.

"I thought it was two competitive teams that want to win," Pelicans coach Willie Green said. "Sometimes, you're going to have things like that that happen."

NBA referee Curtis Blair clarified that Love received only a common foul, not a Flagrant Foul 1, as his actions did not meet the criteria for a more severe penalty.

Williamson expressed no concern about Love's actions, stating that Love had protected him during his fall.

Financial Implications of Suspensions

The consequences of the suspensions extend beyond the court, with Bryant facing a financial penalty of $52,308 and Alvarado $37,988, The Athletic noted.

Jimmy Butler, on a maximum-salary contract, will incur the most substantial financial loss at $259,968 for the single-game suspension.

Nikola Jović will lose $12,655, and Marshall will face a $11,096 financial setback.

The New Orleans Pelicans faced a defeat against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday night. Following the game, Marshall served his suspension, and Alvarado missed the loss, per ESPN.

As a consequence, Alvarado will also be absent during the upcoming road trip against the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers.

For the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler and Nikola Nikola Jović are set to miss the Monday game against the Kings.

Additionally, Bryant won't be available for the remainder of Miami's road trip, which includes matchups against Portland on Tuesday and Denver on Thursday.
