Who Should Be Donald Trump's New Vice President? CPAC Straw Poll has Surprising Results
After trying to get his former vice president, Mike Pence, hanged during the January 6 event, former President Donald Trump is looking for a new running mate. Who should it be? A straw poll was launched during CPAC, and it gave some insights on who conservatives think the next "Veep" should be.
Several big names were in CPAC during the weekend, many of whom are trying to kiss the ring and try to become Donald Trump's next vice president. Many names were floated, including Tim Scott and Elise Stefanik, who many think are the top 2 contenders. However, they were not the top 2 in that CPAC straw poll.
According to Politico, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy were tied for first place in the poll at 15% each. Third place went to former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard at 9%, while the two "favorites," New York Rep. Elise Stefanik and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scot, only received 8% of the votes each.
So far, Donald Trump has not yet indicated who he will choose to run with next after falling out with Mike Pence, but he does have a short list that includes over half a dozen names. These include not just Tim Scott and Elise Stefanik but also Vivek Ramaswamy, who topped the poll.
Joe Biden's Campaign Pokes Fun at Donald Trump's CPAC Speech
Donald Trump headlined the annual conservative conference, CPAC, and he delivered his usual lines along with several outrageous claims like "We have languages coming into our country -- we don't have one instructor in our entire nation that can speak that language. These are languages, it's the craziest thing, they have languages that nobody in this country has ever heard of."

"A vote for Trump is your ticket back to freedom. It's your passport out of tyranny, and it's your only escape from Joe Biden and his gang's fast track to hell," he also said. "And in many ways, we're living in hell right now."
The speech raised some eyebrows, as usual, as many pointed out several lies Donald Trump did. However, the Biden campaign just mocked it, calling it "weird, self-centered ramblings."
"America already had the opportunity to choose if they wanted another four years of hell with Donald Trump's chaos, division, and crazy - they said no," a Biden spokesperson told ABC News.
Donald Trump CPAC Speech Gets Fact-Checked
Donald Trump made several claims during his CPAC speech, which many media organizations described to be filled with lies. It was recently fact-checked by CNN, including the claim that he had warned the US not to launch an invasion of Iraq. CNN noted that the claim is false as "Trump did not publicly express opposition to the March 2003 invasion of Iraq before it occurred."
Trump also claimed that the indictments against him were under Joe Biden's orders. As CNN pointed out, "This claim is not supported by any evidence. Grand juries made up of ordinary citizens - in New York, Georgia, Florida, and Washington, DC - approved the indictments in each of Trump's criminal cases."
He also repeated his election 2020 lies, as it was pointed out that "There was a tiny amount of voter fraud that was nowhere near widespread enough to have changed the outcome in any state, let alone to have reversed Biden's 306-232 victory in the Electoral College."
