Rob Marciano Fired as ABC News Weatherman over 'Anger Issues'
Rob Marciano, a veteran ABC news weatherman, has been terminated from his position following a year-long hiatus due to reported "anger management issues," according to sources.
Marciano's departure marks the end of a decade-long stint on "Good Morning America" and "World News Tonight" amid allegations of inappropriate behavior, the New York Post reports.
Before joining ABC as a senior meteorologist, Rob worked at local TV and radio stations, including KATU in Portland, Oregon, KPLC in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and WVIT in West Hartford, Connecticut.
He also worked at CNN as a meteorologist, field correspondent, and anchor.
In January 2013, Rob transitioned to Entertainment Tonight, cohosting both the 30-minute program and the 60-minute weekend edition.
He left ET in August 2014 to join ABC, where he delivered forecasts for World News Tonight and the weekend editions of Good Morning America.
Marciano's Departure
Rob Marciano has officially exited ABC News, with sources confirming his departure to PEOPLE.
His removal follows a temporary ban from the show's New York studio due to alleged inappropriate conduct.
Despite this, Marciano continued reporting weather updates from external locations.
The broadcaster, who served as ABC News' senior meteorologist since July 2014, had a notable presence on "Good Morning America" before his departure.
Marciano's firing coincides with his divorce from ex-wife Eryn Marciano after 11 years of marriage, which he described as a challenging period.
"The last couple of years have been very difficult," at that time, he penned. "I didn't want this and tried to save the marriage, but we are sadly divorcing. My focus now is on my kids."
In November 2010, they got married and now have a daughter named Madelynn and a son named Mason.
While going through their divorce, they took their kids to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, for spring break.
He posted pictures and videos of their family trip in April.
Details of Marciano's Exit
ABC News terminated Rob Marciano on Tuesday following complaints from multiple network staff members regarding his behavior.
Sources revealed allegations of aggressive conduct, which led to his year-long ban from the "GMA" studio. The network declined to comment on Marciano's dismissal.
Last year, Marciano faced scrutiny for reportedly making a colleague uncomfortable, resulting in his studio ban.
Reports suggested he struggled with anger management issues during his divorce proceedings, contributing to his alleged inappropriate behavior.
Marciano's role on "Good Morning America" was reassigned last September, with Somara Theodore assuming weekend weather reporting duties.
Despite this change, Marciano remained optimistic about future projects, including collaborations with Nat Geo, Yahoo! Entertainment noted.
In his tenure preceding ABC News, Marciano served as a meteorologist for CNN and co-anchored "Entertainment Tonight."
His departure from ABC News marks the end of a prominent career in broadcast journalism.
Rob Marciano's departure from ABC News amid allegations of inappropriate behavior underscores the importance of workplace conduct and professionalism.
While his contributions to weather reporting were significant, his exit signals a shift in the network's personnel.
As ABC News navigates this transition, the focus remains on maintaining a supportive work environment conducive to journalistic integrity.
