Authorities have confirmed the arrest of Xavier Tate in connection with the murder of Chicago cop Luis Huesca.

The arrest, which took place in suburban Glendale Heights, was a collaborative effort involving the Chicago Police Department and the US Marshals Service, NBC Chicago reports.

Tate, identified as a suspect in the fatal shooting of Officer Huesca, was apprehended on Wednesday night.

Alderman Brian Hopkins revealed that investigative tools such as credit cards, cell phones, and license plate readers aided in locating Tate.

Tate faces charges including first-degree murder, aggravated vehicular hijacking, and possession of a stolen firearm.
