Donald Trump took a break from his porn star hush money trial to campaign in New Jersey, and it took a bizarre turn as he praised Hannibal Lecter. At the same time, he slammed New Jersey rock icon Bruce Springsteen and did his usual complaining about his perceived political discrimination against him and railed against migrants.

These remarks happened during his rally in Wildwood, New Jersey. He praised the "late [and] great" fictional cannibal, Hannibal Lecter, and praised the fictional serial killer "as a wonderful man." This then led to a segue attacking migrants coming into the US.

According to The Guardian, Donald Trump had previously praised the character of Hannibal Lecter after the actor who portrayed him in the TV series, Mads Mikkelsen, described Trump as "a fresh wind for some people."

After praising a fictional serial killer as a "wonderful man" in Wildwood City. the former president then complained about migrants, claiming that "people who are being released into our country that we don't want." The former president has a history of saying that he wants more migrants from white countries like Norway and lamented that the migrants that often come to the US are from "Sh**hole countries."

Trump also praised former mob boss Al Capone, the violent Prohibition-era Chicago mob boss behind the Valentine's Day Massacre. The former president repeated his claims that he has "been indicted more than the great Alphonse Capone."

However, as Trump began to talk, reports have revealed that the crowd in New Jersey began thinning considerably. A video of people walking away as Trump spoke went viral on X, formerly Twitter.

"I love these Saturday evenings. Is there anything better than a Trump rally? We have a much bigger crowd than Bruce Springsteen. Right?"

Newsweek noted that it is unknown if Trump even knows if the rock legend is a Trump critic, with the Trump remarks raising several eyebrows in politics and news media, with many scoffing at Trump's claims and pointing out that people started leaving while he was talking.

Speaking before his followers was a break for the former president as he received several humiliating testimonies from witnesses during his hush money trial, including from the woman he allegedly paid off to stay quiet, Stormy Daniels. There, he took aim at Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and President Joe Biden.

He mocked Bragg and called him "Fat Alvin" before calling Judge Juan Merchan, the judge overseeing the trial, as "corrupt" and "highly conflicted." He then claimed without any evidence that the trial was being orchestrated by President Biden.

"As you know, I've come here from New York, where I'm being forced to endure a Biden show trial - all done by Biden," he claimed.
