Rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs, previously known as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, finally broke his silence after the video of her beating up ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura inside a hotel surfaced, admitting to the incident and issuing an apology soon after.

In that video, first released by CNN, Diddy was seen "grabbing, shoving, dragging and kicking Ventura during an altercation that matches allegations in a now-settled federal lawsuit filed by Ventura in November."

However, the rap mogul and music producer only released his apology two days after the outlet released the video. It was noted that the Bad Boy music label founder bowed down to mounting backlash, including the comments section of his various social media accounts. This led him to release the apology video on Instagram.

"It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that," said the rapper in his video apology. "I was f**ked up - I hit rock bottom - but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable."

"I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I am disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now," he added while avoiding mentioning Cassie Ventura by name.

Meanwhile, this prompted Ventura's attorney, Meredith Firetog, to release a statement saying, "Combs' most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt."

"When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday." the lawyer added. "That he was only compelled to 'apologize' once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words."

Diddy Initially Denied Allegations and Doubled Down, Until CNN Released the Video

Before the Instagram apology video, Diddy remained adamant that he did not assault Cassie Ventura, even though he had already lost the court case. However, things changed once the CNN video of him assaulting her in a hotel surfaced.

According to the Associated Press, Combs looked somber in the apology video which was the first apology he ever made after six months of allegations that have more or less destroyed his reputation and career.

"It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that," said Diddy. "I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry. But I'm committed to be a better man each and every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry."

What Happened in the Video Where Diddy Was Seen Assaulting Cassie Ventura?

As seen on the security camera footage, Ventura was seen heading out of a hotel room and into an elevator. However, a towel-draped Diddy was seen chasing after her and grabbed her by the neck before throwing her onto the ground. He then kicked her before grabbing her purse and suitcase.

According to PEOPLE magazine, the rapper kicked the already-down Ventura again before dragging her back to the hotel room. He let her go briefly before sitting down on a chair, grabbing something off a table, and then throwing it onto Ventura. He was then seen walking away. Combs was seen trying to turn back to her, but somebody had exited the elevator.
