Recently, the Samsung Galaxy S5 added several new colors prior to the release of the Galaxy S6. This is just some of the news coming from Samsung about its popular Galaxy devices. Let's look into more information on the phones.

New Colors on the S5

Perhaps Samsung is trying to get more last minute buyers before a new Galaxy is released, or maybe they just wanted to add some variety. Regardless, there's more colors available now for the Galaxy S5. They include: Electric Blue, Copper Gold, Shimmer White and Charcoal Black.

New Mini S5

A smaller, "mini-me" version of the S5 was released July 1. It's simply called the Galaxy S5 Mini. Some cutbacks had to be made to the S5 mini. The screen size goes down from the 5.1-inch size on the Galaxy S5 to 4.5 inches on the Mini. The processor speed gets reduced as well (from 2.5 GHz to 1.4 GHz).

The fingerprint scanner and the heart rate monitor have not been removed despite the reduction in size. If you are a fan of these features, you'll be happy that the Mini kept them. If you could do without them, it seems like an unnecessary use of space.

Sixteen gigabytes of internal storage is the only choice you'll have for a Mini. It can only support up to 64 GB of external storage. The standard S5 is offering a 16 GB and 32 GB model and can support up to 128 GB of external storage.

The camera also got its specs slashed in half on the Mini. The Mini's camera is only 8 megapixels, compared to the standard S5's 16 MP camera.

In all, the Mini S5 is a light-version of the S5. You'll enjoy most of the features that the standard S5 has, but it won't be the full experience and it'll be slower.

S6 Will Be Called the Galaxy S5 Prime or Galaxy F

This sounds similar to when Apple would disappoint fans with the S models. When Apple released the 4S, fans groaned because it was just a "half-release" when they thought the full iPhone 5 was coming out. The S5 Prime wouldn't be the wisest choice for a name for Samsung.

The Galaxy F makes sense, F is the sixth letter in the alphabet, right?

Finally a Metal Device?

After several releases, Samsung appears to be finally releasing a metal Galaxy device. We'll see though! Stay tuned for more updates!
