Drake Won't Play Music at Wireless Festival 2014: '0 to 100' Singer Replaced by Kanye West, Rudimental
Drake canceled his headline performances at this year's Wireless Festival last minute because of illness.
The Toronto emcee was set to deliver two headlining performances on Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5, at the U.K.'s three-day music festival. Unfortunately, he will no longer show up as he is not well enough to fly or perform and was consequently instructed by doctors to rest.
"To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won't be able to perform as planned as Wireless and Roskilde this weekend," Drake said regretfully n a statement posted on the Wireless Festival's official website. "I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me. I will be focused on resting for a quick recovery.
As a result of his absence, dance collective Rudimental will perform an extended set with a host of special guests on Friday at Birmingham's Perry Park, and fellow hip-hop star Kanye West will fill in Drizzy's original slot with an entire additional headlining performance on Saturday at the London stage. The "Yeezus" rapper will headline all three days of the festival.
"I have the best fans in the world and I can't wait to come back to make more incredible memories together," Drake added.
The Sunday lineup remains to be unaffected with Bruno Mars set to headline with special guests Outkast.
In addition, ticket-holders, who were expecting to see the "Started from the Bottom" hitmaker perform, will be given 20 pounds worth of Wireless Credit that can be used for food, beverages, merchandise and funfair. Refunds will be available from point of purchase prior to the event.
Drake is still scheduled to host ESPN's ESPY Awards on July 8.
