Wendy Guevara Becomes the First Trans Presenter on American National Television
The artist and influencer has joined one of the afternoon programs at Univision.

Mexican artist and influencer Wendy Guevara announced in late 2024 that she was temporarily moving to Miami. She was originally set to join the cast of this year's edition of 'Nuestra Belleza Latina.' However, with Univision postponing the reality show's premiere, her plans seemed uncertain—until now.
Univision announced on Monday that Wendy is the new host of 'Desiguales,' the network's afternoon talk show. This milestone makes her the first trans person to hold an official hosting position on the network and on national broadcast television in the U.S..

Her debut took place on February 17. She was welcomed by co-hosts Adamari López, Karina Banda, Amara La Negra, Dr. Nancy, and Migbelis Castellanos.
"I'm so grateful for this opportunity. I know we're going to get along so well because when I first came here, we really clicked," Wendy said during her introduction. In a live stream she also expressed excitement about the new project: "The girls have such an amazing vibe, they're divine, and I love that I'll be spending time with them every day."
Wendy will appear on 'Desiguales' daily during Migbelis Castellanos' maternity leave, marking a historic moment in television.
Breaking barriers
Rising to fame on the first season of 'La Casa de los Famosos México,' Wendy is now making history in the U.S., where no trans person had previously held a continuous hosting role on national broadcast television.
Despite being seen as more conservative, Mexican and Latino audiences have embraced trans figures in media. The first transgender woman on Spanish-language television was Cuban actress Alina María Hernández, best known as Cachita from "El Gordo y la Flaca." Though she occasionally filled in for Lili Estefan, her role was not permanent like Wendy's.
Mexican audiences not only enjoyed Wendy's time on La Casa de los Famosos México' but also crowned her the show's winner. Additionally, transgender psychic Moni Vidente remains one of Mexico's most recognized television personalities.
