'Gears of War' 4 Xbox One, PS4 Release News and Gameplay: Voice Actor Confirms Return to Microsoft Exclusive IP
Virtually no news has been heard about the next installment of Gears of War, and not even a mention was made during the E3 gaming conference where many gamers expected an announcement or at least a hint from Microsoft about what to expect. Instead, the tech company ended their turn at the E3 conference with the revelation of Crackdown and no mention of the Gears of War. However, fans have now found their glimmer of hope as the voice actor Lester Speight has responded to a fan's question of whether or not he would be reprising his role in the game.
Speight has confirmed that he had been called to lend his voice to Augustus "Cole Train" Cole -- a supporting character in the game. His return implies that there will be no major reboot that would eliminate the game's main characters, such as Marcus Fenix, Anya Stroud and Damon Baird.
Gears of War is no doubt the second most iconic game of Microsoft next to Halo. Just like Halo, Gears of War has been handed over from its original creators to a different production team by now. While Halo has been handed over to 343 from Bungie, the Gears IP has been sold by Epic Games directly to Microsoft. This move means that the game will always be a franchise exclusive to Xbox. Given that the Xbox One is less powerful in terms of hardware when compared with the PlayStation 4, Gears of War has been known to push the graphical capabilities of its gaming platform to the limits. If it continues doing so with Microsoft's next-gen console, then it shouldn't be difficult for Gears of War to match up with the graphics of Sony's games.
Other than the developer and that there will be one character from the previous game, no other details are known about the next installment of Gears of War. Though, fans can be sure that it will definitely be a hit as it returns for Xbox One.
