Cristiano Ronaldo to Release CR7 Shirt Collection This Year
Cristiano Ronaldo is well known for his soccer skills, but he is ready to excel somewhere else.
The Portuguese athlete took to Twitter to confirm that he will be launching a shirt collection this year.
I am excited to announce that I am launching my first #CR7shirts collection towards the end of this year. Check out https://t.co/VUOf12hIBr

In lieu of offering more details, he directed his fans to his website: cr7shirts.com.
Turns out he is serious about fashion, and he has tapped a major talent to help him develop his brand.
"Having began his venture into the fashion world with the introduction of CR7 by Cristiano Ronaldo Underwear and Socks, the superstar sportsman is advancing his CR7 fashion brand by taking the next step and developing a premium shirt line," according to the CR7 site. "Cristiano Ronaldo has continued his partnership with New York-based designer Richard Chai, who is head designer of the CR7 brand."
Chai, who runs Richard Chai Love, has won a Council of Fashion Designers of America award, as well as worked for Donna Karan and Marc Jacobs.
Ronaldo entered the men's clothing sphere because he wanted to bring a more sophisticated touch to the essential parts of men's wardrobes. Think along the lines of what The Row (run by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) provides for women or what affordable brand Everlane does for members of both sexes.
"For me, a strong foundation is the most important thing throughout every area of my life," he said, according to the site. "In my sporting life, a strong foundation enables me to perform at my very best, and I apply the same principle to my personal life, business life and the way I dress. Dressing well gives me confidence to be the best that I can be, and underwear with a great fit and modern, stylish shirts are the starting point of every look."
