Novak Djokovic's Girlfriend Turned Wife: Wimbledon Champion Marries Fiancée Jelena Ristic
After winning his second Wimbledon Champion title last weekend, Novak Djokovic is now ready to marry fiancée Jelena Ristic on Thursday, July 10.
"I would like to dedicate this to my future wife, and our future baby. I'm going to become a father soon, I'm still preparing for that, it's a great joy in life," the 27-year-old No. 1 tennis player said during his acceptance speech. "A lot of great moments are coming: the wedding, becoming a father in a few months," he added before explaining that he would "close this chapter of tennis for a little while" and "enjoy spending time with my family and my future wife."
Confirmed by ABC News, the high school sweethearts, who have been together for eight years and announced their engagement in September, will wed in a civil ceremony at the exclusive and lavish resort of Montenegro's Sveti Stefan, a beautiful village with cobbled lanes and stunning views of the southern Adriatic coast.
According to local reports, the couple will stay at Aman's most expensive 5-star villa, No. 118, which costs $4,000 per night. The resort's famous Queen's Beach has been off-limits for wedding preparation since Sunday.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion, who greatly defeated Roger Federer, said of his win at the All England Club on Monday: "It wasn't about where I was but about what I went through in this moment. I took some time to refocus and forget about what happened in the fourth set, forget about the missed opportunities and move on.
"I had this positive encouragement to say to myself, and even though you go through different emotions during such an important match and there are times when you have doubts, and especially after the fourth set the disappointment that brought with it the fear and all these different demons inside.
"When you start fighting them that's the biggest fight that you can have. That's what I experienced and I managed to have my conviction stronger than my doubts and managed to push myself the very last step to win the trophy."
