If there is one thing that Miley Cyrus is good at, it's garnering an excessive amount of attention. After her performance at the VMAs this past Sunday, the whole world is wondering: what has gotten into Miley?

Cyrus shocked many of her fans (and non-fans for that matter), when she took the stage to perform her hit single "We Can't Stop." Though that song's performance was a bit risque -- she repeatedly slapped a large dancing woman's butt, after all -- the real controversy didn't start until she shared the stage with Robin Thicke to perform his hit "Blurred Lines."

It was at that point that Miley started aggressively dancing around Thicke. While the "Party in the U.S.A." songstress didn't seem to mind, Thicke's mother Gloria Loring certainly seemed to.

"I don't understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do. I just keep thinking of her mother and father watching this," said Loring. "I was not expecting her to be putting her butt that close to my son. The problem is, now I can never unsee it."

There was certainly plenty to unsee with Miley's performance on Sunday. Not only did she 'twerk it' right in front of Thicke's crotch, but she also appeared to be trying to give him a hickey at one point as well. Then of course, there was also the issue of her practically molesting the large foam hand prop of hers.

"I think she's misbegotten in this attempt of hers. And I think it was not beneficial. I didn't get what her point was. It was so over the top as to almost be a parody of itself," quipped Thicke's mother.

Cyrus' behavior was over-the-top as it was, even without considering the fact that Thicke is happily married to actress Paula Patton. Patton apparently did not mind Miley's antics, and rather predictably, Thicke was not a critic either.

"He had fun and was fine with how it came out," said a source that is reportedly close to Robin Thicke. "He knew what they were going to do and thought it was fun and awesome. He had a great time."
