Halle Berry Movies: Actress Reflects on Playing Crack-Smoking Character in 'Jungle Fever', Says She Didn't Shower for Two Months
Halle Berry is known for being a beautiful and talented actress, but she has revealed just how dedicated she is to her craft.
She was just beginning her career and was working on "Jungle Fever," where she was playing a crack-cocaine addict. Berry didn't want to experiment with drugs, but she still tried to live the part, notes the Irish Examiner.
"I didn't smoke crack," she said. "I drew the line there but it was 23 years ago so I was brand spanking new and at that time all I could really do was kind of try to be it, to be it so I didn't shower the whole entire time that we shot that movie, so that was probably about eight weeks."
She called the experience "gnarly" and said she only washed "certain body parts."
Berry also revealed that she keeps her Oscar hidden in her bedroom, where no one can see it.
"You would walk in our home and not know that actors live there and so it's some place that's private," she said. "It's just for me. It reminds me sometimes of the accomplishment so it's really more for me personally."
Berry's next project will bring her to CBS as the lead in "Extant."
A clip was released recently where she plays an astronaut that is mysteriously pregnant, and her son, Ethan, might be a robot, notes Entertainment Weekly.
In the clip, a robot explains natural selection to Ethan, specifically talking about neanderthals becoming extinct. The robot continues to explain that homo sapiens were better able to survive because they were stronger and smarter. She tells him that he is part of the homo sapiens, but Ethan says he is not. Their conversation is interrupted by his mom before he can answer.
