'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood' Video Game Tops Apple App Store, iOS Downloads: 'KUWTK' TV Show Star & Kanye Earn Millions on Top of Endorsements
Kim Kardashian shows no sign of slowing down her individual and family empire that already provides makeup, clothing and jewelry as the 33-year-old "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star is set to make $85 million from her new video game, Business Insider reported.
The mobile video game called "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood," created by Glu Mobile, is expected to earn that amount, according to trend analysts in the industry. Because of the volume of current downloads, "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood" has already made its way into the top rated apps in the Apple App Store since it was released on June 25. It ranked as the No. 5 top-grossing app in only three weeks, and it has become the only App Store Top 10 with a rating of five stars.
Game analyst Douglas Creutz attributed the trend to Kim Kardashian's brand, which drove fans to download the game. Since then, the game has started to have "a life of its own," he told Bloomberg.
Of course the game drew criticisms especially from serious gamers who deemed it as a joke while offering no value at all, NY Daily News reported. The game allows users to "live like Kim" as a cartoony avatar who goes to parties, shops and poses for photos. This does not create any impact to the Kardashians, though, especially Kim. According to Forbes magazine, she and Kanye have estimated earnings of $28 million just in the past year from her reality show and endorsements.
"Kim Kardashian: Hollywood" could possibly earn more if it offers in-game purchases, such as more playing time and virtual items that Kim would probably endorse in real life. Perhaps this game and its current success shows just how much people would like to know what it is like to be Kim.
