Bungie 'Destiny' Game Beta, Sony & Microsoft Release Dates: PS4, PC, Xbox One Gameplay and Resolution Photos Reveal a Beautiful & Competitive Environment
Bungie has begun to run the beta of its most anticipated game, Destiny, and just as it should since it has served its purpose of being tested by gamers who have already spotted several issues and details since the launch.
According to Attack of the Fanboy, gamers have posted screenshots of the beautifully created game online, and the difference is noticeable as the PS4 version looks much better with a 1080p resolution where the PS3 version maxes out at 720p.
Furthermore, the PS4 version looks a lot clearer with more vivid colors, but it doesn't mean that the PS3 is lacking in terms of graphics.
Games using different platforms cannot play with each other just by virtue of being on older and newer consoles as cross-platform play doesn't exist. For instance, PS3 and PS4 owners cannot play together, and the same thing goes for Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamers. This is not attributable to a technical reason, but rather the developer wanted to keep the playing field even. Obviously, next-gen consoles have better processing capabilities than their older versions.
According to Digital Trends, Roger Wolfson, an engineer for Bungie, gave an example why cross-platform play was not included. For one, sniping will be more difficult for a player with an older console. In terms of display, the next-gen owner can see his opponent better than the one on the other side, giving him an advantage. He also illustrated his point by saying how PC gamers constantly upgrade their hardware to have the upper hand, the benefits of which they really enjoy in-game.
The Destiny beta launched for Sony's consoles on July 16, while Microsoft platform owners will have to wait a week later until July 23 to join in, GameSpot reported. The beta will be closing on July 27 and the full game will be available to all four platforms on Sept. 9.
