On Friday, Zendaya Coleman decided to put a stop to the rumors claiming that she turned down her Aaliyah movie role because of "haters" who felt she wasn't good enough to play the late R&B star.

"Let me just explain something. The reason why I chose not to do the Aaliyah movie had nothing to do with the haters or the people telling me I couldn't do it, I wasn't talented enough, or I wasn't black enough," said Coleman who posted a serious of candid Instagram videos explaining her decision to withdraw from Lifetime's Aaliyah biopic production.

In her second Instagram clip, Coleman named Lifetime's failure to obtain all of Aaliyah's music rights and the lack of support for the film from Aaliyah's family as the main reasons for her departure.

"The main reasons were the production value wasn't there, there were complications with the music rights, and I just felt like it wasn't being handled delicately considering the situation," Zendaya continued. "And I tried my best to reach out to the family on my own, and I wrote a letter, but I was unable to do so therefore I felt not really morally okay with moving forward with the project."

Although Coleman will no longer be playing the singer who she has called her idol in the past, she still congratulated her replacement Alexandra Shipp, who will take on the Aaliyah role instead.

"With all that being said, congratulations to the new woman playing Aaliyah. I only hope that she does not have to deal with half the hate I had to deal with. And remember that we are all human beings trying to do what we love to do. Let's practice motivation and love, not discrimination and hate," Coleman concluded her Instagram rant.

Following Friday's announcement naming Shipp as the new Aaliyah, the Lifetime biopic will resume filming this summer and will air on Lifetime in the fall, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

The Lifetime biopic, which will be titled "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B," will be based off of the book "Aaliyah: More Than a Woman" by Christopher Farley.
