Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 6 Recap: The Mysteries of Beacon Hills
Scott McCall's band of supernatural friends on MTV's "Teen Wolf" are dealing with trouble at every turn and are having a tough time piecing together the mysteries of Beacon Hills.
The returned Kate Argent, played by Jill Wagner, and her loyal team of Berserkers, skull-masked super henchman, are searching every lead to find the mysterious and extremely elusive Benefactor. The Benefactor has created a dead pool list of all the supernatural people in Beacon Hills, leading an onslaught of assassins after McCall and his wolf pack, along with their other banshee and kitsune friends.
Two of these assassins, Garret and Violet, also attend the teen werewolves' high school. Last week in the I.E.D. episode, the pair killed several targeted people on the hit list, collecting the bounty unnoticed. Scott McCall discovered the pair was trying to kill him and his friends and told the police, who hauled only Violet away.
FBI agent and Mr. McCall intervened as the police escorted Violet to a squad car, recognizing her from previous police investigations of teens taking on the role of contract killers. Garrett and Violet are both orphans, and the episode's namesake.
Meanwhile, Scott's newest addition to the wolf pack, a high school freshman and lacrosse player named Liam, is kidnapped by the remaining orphan hit man Garrett and stabbed with a lethal dose of wolfsbane. Liam awakens at the bottom of a deep well, injured and alone. Using Liam as a bargaining chip, Garrett blackmails Scott into helping him get Violet out of jail.
As Scott McCall deals with Van Helsing-esque supernatural hunters, Stiles and Lydia attempt to crack the cypher and discover the last set of names on the Benefactor's list. Along with the help of deputy Parrish, they go to the psychiatric hospital Eichen House to talk with only other known banshee besides Lydia: Meredith. Meredith goes into a frenzy when the others ask her to predict the code's keyword, and police later find she hung herself in her room.
Scott and Garrett plan to break Violet out of police custody when she is being transferred to a federal facility. However, when the boys trail the car carrying the girl, it is ambushed by another party. Scott and Garrett rush to their aid, but Berserkers appear and impale Garrett.
Scott, along with Chris Argent, follow after Kate and the Berserkers to find Liam's whereabouts and try to stop whatever she has planned next. While Scott tries to get Kate to open up, her brother opens fire on her and the Berserkers, bringing on a beating and their ultimate escape.
Liam, grown weak from wading in the well and his infected wound, tries to scale the walls toward escape. Just as he is too unsteady to pull himself out, Scott appears to lend a hand.
Lydia and Stiles realize that the final name in the code's keyword is someone that she predicts will die. Instinctively, she unlocks the final set of targets by typing "Derek" into the keypad.
After the fighting's dust has settled, Scott vows that he wouldn't allow anyone else from Beacon Hills will die, that he will try to save them all. The episode concludes with Peter Hale discovering Kate hiding in the town's sewer system, and offers her a deal in which he will train her to become a better werewolf if she can promise him power.
"Teen Wolf" airs Mondays at 10/9c on MTV.
