Flappy Bird Family on Amazon Fire TV: Dong Nguyen Makes App Game Less Addicting, Avoids Google Play and Apple iTunes Store
A new version of the popular mobile game Flappy Bird returns as a multiplayer game but is currently only available on the Amazon Fire TV. The new feature includes person vs. person mode with ghosts to avoid in the game, The Register reported.
Dong Nguyen, the creator of the highly addictive mobile game has previously promised that the game would be returning and this promise has now been fulfilled. While the game is available exclusively on one mobile device, it can safely be assumed that the new version will be made available to a wider selection of mobile devices including the Android and iOS platforms.
This new Flappy Bird version is called Flappy Birds Family, which features a multiplayer person vs. person mode that has additional obstacles beyond the already challenging green pipes. In this version, the obstacles include ghosts which must be avoided to win the game. According to the game's description, it's still very hard.
Nguyen also said back in May in an announcement that Flappy Bird would be returning in a less addictive version, and one of the early reviews of the game does say that the goal has been achieved. Another reviewer expressed that he is thankful that the new version is not as addictive as the original one.
The original Flappy Bird mobile app was removed form Google Play and iTunes in February after the creator posted on his Twitter account that he could not take his fame anymore. Despite the serious decision, Flappy Birds was able to earn an average of $50,000 daily in ad revenue.
Its new version with rebranding and all shifts the focus from a solo gaming experience to a two-player mode that puts two players against each other who will compete to reach the preset finish line with more obstacles in the way.
