'Interstellar' 2014 Movie Trailer: Christopher Nolan Film Compared to '2001: A Space Odyssey', Stars Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway
The third trailer of the upcoming film "Interstellar" by Christopher Nolan was released online last Friday after it was shown at the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 last week.
The new trailer adds more buzz and anticipation as the movie gains huge momentum, making it probably one of the most awaited films this year. While the science fiction teaser features breathtaking themes, it is also filled with emotion, following Nolan's unique style and format, Movie Pilot reports.
Given Nolan's imaginative mind and his directing technique, there already are comparisons of "Interstellar" with Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey," which is one of the most memorable films in history. He admitted that the film did indeed influence the creation of "Interstellar."
Also, according to a rumor from Nolan Fans, there will be a three-and-a-half-minute long alternate trailer with additional footage, mainly focusing on interviews with various scientists and astrophysicists.
Starring Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Ellen Burstyn, Bill Irwin and Michael Caine, the science fiction film is about a group of space explorers who travel through a wormhole that the crew newly discovered.
The film is expected to challenge Nolan and "Interstellar" could create a similar effect in the movie industry as "2001" did years ago at a time when science fiction films are generally considered to be only secondary to mainstream films in theaters.
As one of the most anticipated movies this year, Nolan's film has jumped to the second spot from the eighth position, based on the trailer power rankings by The Wire following the release of the latest trailer. However, Birdman maintains its rank on the first spot after it also released a new trailer that is crazier and better than the last one.
"Interstellar" is set to be released in theaters on Nov. 6 in the United Kingdom and on Nov. 7 in the United States and Canada.
