The Jack Black-fronted 2003 movie "School of Rock" is getting a TV series.

Nickelodeon is partnering with Paramount TV for the 13-episode season, notes the Huffington Post.

The show -- just like the movie -- will focus on Dewey Finn, who poses as a substitute teacher at a children's prep school. In the movie, the children are very studious and though they possess musical abilities, they don't see the value of rock 'n' roll. Finn, who is a struggling rocker, spends his time molding them into his perfect band.

"With Dewey's outrageous personality and rock star sensibilities taking center stage, 'School of Rock' will be an irresistibly fun show for the whole family," said Amy Powell, Paramount TV president.

The series will have a familiar touch.

Richard Linklater, who directed the movie, and Scott Rudin, who served as the producer, will executive produce the show. So far, it's not known if Jack Black or Nickelodeon darling Miranda Cosgrove will be involved with the series.

In the last few years, Black made a cameo on Cosgrove's "iCarly."

The 2010 episode has characters Carly, Sam and Freddie going to WebiCon, where fans ask whether Freddie is dating Sam or Carly. In another room, Aspartamay, played by Black, and Spencer get into a costumed battle.

The episode didn't have as many scenes between Cosgrove and Black, who played off each other very well on the "School of Rock" movie. Her character was the class' factotum, and though she thinks highly of herself as singer, even deciding to belt out "Memory" from "Cats," she does not make the band. Instead, she becomes its manager.

"'School Of Rock' is one of those great movies that always felt quintessentially Nickelodeon in its tone and humor, and we jumped at the opportunity to partner with Paramount Television and bring it to life as a TV series," said Russell Hicks, Nick president of content.

"School of Rock" will also be coming to the stage.
