Timothy Bradley was mentioned as one of the possible opponents of Miguel Cotto in his next fight, and Bradley's trainer, Joel Diaz, likes the idea of facing the newly crowned World Boxing Council middleweight champion.

In an interview with BoxingScene, Diaz said that Bradley won't have a problem dealing with Cotto in a middleweight title fight, saying that his fighter fought at 152 pounds during his amateur boxing career.

"Tim is not a tall guy but if you go back to the end of his amateur career he was fighting at 152," Diaz said. "Timmy isn't a big fighter but Miguel Cotto isn't either. With that being the case, we will take the fight."

Cotto recently won the WBC middleweight title with a technical knockout victory against Sergio Martinez in a showdown that was fought at a 159-pound catchweight.

Diaz said that Cotto is a strong fighter, but he feels that the Puerto Rican is still not big enough to put Bradley at a huge disadvantage if ever they'll collide in the near future.

"At one point of his career he was at 140 pounds and moved up to 147 pounds and then 154 and then moved to 160 but he didn't even make the weight. He weighed 155 which says a lot," Diaz said of Cotto. "Miguel Cotto is not a big fighter but he is a strong fighter."

Diaz insisted that Bradley, who is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in April, has the perfect style and speed to match up with the Puerto Rican champion.

"We would take that fight because of Tim's ability to move, he is so hard to hit. Styles make fights and I think that would be a great fight," Diaz said.

The 30-year-old California native recently said that he would consider moving up in weight, particularly to the middleweight division, after campaigning as a junior welterweight and welterweight over the past several years.

"My preference would be to go up and try something different, something new," Bradley said via Desert Sun. "I already did the 140 thing. I already accomplished a lot at 140. At 147, I've done some things there. I wouldn't mind testing the waters at a higher weight."
