On July 24, John Kinnear dedicated his blog post to his co-worker's 8-year-old son, Grady Lynch, who is currently battling Leukemia.

In the post titled, "Can any of you get this kid in touch with Adam Sandler?" Kinnear asks his readers "to help a family affected by Leukemia in a different kind of way."

Kinnear then explains that the "different kind of way" he is referring to is getting the news out about Grady's wish to meet his idol, Adam Sandler.

"Grady wants to have a low-key BBQ and eat a kosher hot dog with Adam Sandler (May I suggest Hebrew National, they are fan-freaking-tastic). I understand why he wants said BBQ. Sandler has long been on my imaginary invite list to my own hypothetical non-sexual-man-crush BBQ," Kinnear writes on his Ask Your Dad blog.

He continues, "I, like Grady, am a huge fan of Adam Sandler. If there were a chart of all the times I have laughed in my life, the Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore sections would take up a large portion of the chart."

Kinnear concludes his heartfelt post with a simple request that he admits is "a shot in the dark."

"So anyway, just a shot in the dark, do any of you know Sandler or someone who knows Sandler, or someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows Sandler. If you do, would you mind showing them this video that Brady made?" he writes.

In addition to the post, Kinnear also includes Grady's personal video invite to Sandler to come join him at his BBQ.

"Hi Adam Sandler, my name is Grady Lynch and back in February, I got diagnosed with a rare leukemia. I'm your biggest fan. When I was going through some hard times, your movies helped me to get through them," Grady says in the beginning of the video.

Evidently, with the help of Kinnear and his readers, Adam Sandler caught wind of Grady's request and granted his wish, ABC reports.

Sandler called Grady and "the two of them hit it off and had a great conversation!" Kinnear wrote on his blog update. He also posted a photo of Grady smiling during his conversation with his idol.
