Alejandra Guzmán: Singer Joins Univision's New Reality Show 'Va Por Ti'
Alejandra Guzmán is the latest celebrity to join Univision's newest music competition show.
The singer will serve as a judge on "Va Por Ti," according to People En Español.
"I am very excited and very excited to participate in this new way to find stars," she said. "It's my first day of work, and everything has turned out marvelously well."
Guzmán added that she is happy to be part of Univision. She has worked with the brand before but never on a project like this. She also said she plans to be assertive and honest as a judge.
There will be 28 participants on the show, and Dulce Maria, Larry Hernandez and Jencarlos Canela will also serve as judges. The show will be hosted by Galilea Montijo.
The show will kick off Sept. 7.
Hernandez shared Guzmán's enthusiasm about the new show.
"It will be something very important in my career," he said. "I want them to be originals."
Auditions have already taken place in Miami, Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, Houston, Chicago and New York, and the "Va Por Ti" site lets viewers get a look at some of these moments.
For Dulce Maria, being on the show meant turning down a "super tempting" offer from Telemundo. She ultimately turned it down because she was working on an album, and she'd have to put it on hold as she lived in Miami for six months.
She also wanted to make music her priority, so she didn't want to star in telenovelas.
"This year everything will be all about music," she said. "I've been working for Televisa for 24 years, and it's where I've done most of my career."
The description of the show says that though the network already finds the best in beauty queens and dancers, it is now ready to find the next best Latin artist. And they will be guided by those who know the business best.
