Nicki Minaj excitingly joins the star-studded list of performances for the upcoming 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.

The Trinidadian emcee previously had a couple of performances on VMAs, including her pre-show set back in 2010 and a duet with Alicia Keys for "Girl on Fire." She also took home two Moonmen for Best Female Video ("Starships") and Best Hip-Hop Video ("Super Bass").

This year will be Minaj's first solo performance at the awards show, as she is set to join already announced performers -- her recent collaborator Beyoncé and alleged rap rival Iggy Azalea, as well as Ariana Grande, Usher, Rita Ora, 5 Seconds of Summer and Maroon 5 -- while additional performers and presenters are expected to be announced soon.

"The VMAs is a pretty big deal so people go all out for it," said the YMCMB rapper to Hollywood Reporter. "I am very, very excited and looking forward to the performance."

Minaj will be treating fans by performing for the first time the latest single "Anaconda" off her highly anticipated forthcoming third studio album "The Pinkprint," due out later this year.

Meanwhile, the "Pills N Potions" rapper sparked controversy when she released the butt-baring cover art for the new track. She explained the provocative artwork during "On Air with Ryan Seacrest": "Well you know, in the beginning of my career, I did pictures like that, I did photo shoots like that. And I didn't want to lose that sense of who I am."

"I feel like one of the people I look up to the most was Madonna, and she's never stopped pushing the envelope," she added. "She's never stopped taking risks, and I don't ever want to stop doing that either."
